Great phone BUT the ring tone is way to quiet for a trady phone I have trouble hearing it ring it seems very quiet even though I have it turned up as loud as possible. Does anyone have a remedy for this ?

Just received this handset this morning for work use.
Can't get over how light it is.
Seems solid enough, will see how it is after 12 months rolling across the dash of my van.

Have been given a new SGH-M110 and will be interested to see if it will stand up to Agricultural/Forestry use like the Nokia 6250 did including being inside a coat pocket with sawdust and rainwater. (Nokia lasted six years of hard use before the On/Off switch broke) This fone has SMALL buttons for people with large hands!!
Sensible comments welcome!

This has to be one of the worst phones ever built - with the exception of the early 3mobile efforts. Tough, yes, but do I care when i want to run it over with a dumper myself?!
It is impossible to use, extremely slow and clumpsy and has a tendency to reset itself to default even when you change the settings, for anyone that is used to working with a Nokia, don't buy this phone, it is like it has been built for a 5 year old. Everything is convoluted and there is no quick or easy way to do anything. Samsung seem to be about 5 years behind everyone else in terms of speed or ease of use.
What can I say, this is a horrible, horrible piece of technology, I hope they go back to the drawing board and start from scratch!

but the absolute worst phone i have ever owned!!!!!
from new the keys were faulty.
Phone would randomlly turn off.
Every time i created a new txt it would switch predictive txt off.
Even if i was sent a txt from someone sitting rite next to me i would recieve them 3-4 hours later.
Have gone back to nokia and have no problems.
sorry SAMSUNG!

dominic, 17 Sep 2008The alarm will not rings out when I switch-off the phone. C... moreYou can set it to "offline mode" and you'll be unreachable as if you switched the phone off. When screen goes out the phone uses as much battery as when shut off and all reminders alarms etc. still work.
As for my experience with the phone; I think It's not that tough at all. I've put it under shower for a second wiped it out and after some time the upper edge of screen got foggy from the inside. Seems like some water got in through the speaker opening. After one month the phone still works, so no harm was done.
Otherwise the phone is "spartan" - has only necessary features which I don't mind at all. However I would like more flexibility - browsing phone book by groups, using custom pictures for contacts (not only presets or those taken with camera) etc...
One thing that still annoys me is that when you select the contact to call you must select which number to dial (gsm, office, home) even when contact has only one number listed.

Finally Samsung almost got it right. This is phone that is meant to be used as a phone. Not a Megapixel camera, not a games console and not a personal media player.
You can call people and hear them. You can send and recieve text messages. It works with bluetooth hands free.
Its also rugged. Its for people who actually work for a living instead of sitting in an office all day clicking refresh on your myfacebookspace page.
If you want a phone to make phone calls and takes a beating buy this.
Otherwise buy the latest Nokia Uber-Mega-Shiney-Something, you know it makes you look cool. Right?
