i got this phone and all i can say is that I'm impressed. The touchscreen is qute responsive, and it would take one or 2 tries, but texting on it is a joy especially when you hold it in landscape mode. Of course the camera is nothing but super, and can compare with an 8 megapixel camera to an extent, and I like music player, in that it's simple. Call quality is superb as far as I'm concerned.

the things i don't like about it is the lack of wi-fi, and ur a little restricted as far as customization of it is concerned. The CD i got from the box sucked and crashes often, and you're better off downloading the comptuer syncro program online anyway,(i think it's the improved version of it) and it's flash is not so hot as far as taking really good night shots is concerned. Oh yeah, and the battery power depending on what you do, eg, making vids and playing games, will PULL alot of power.

Peoples, when you think of it, it's a phone first and anything else after. If it can't make and receive your calls without a glitch, it's not a phone at all!

As an all round multimedia phone I give it 8/10, cuz you won't be too bored with it! Just give me some more customizations to make my phone screen and UI look prettier and a wi-fi adapter for that thing, and, hell yea, this will the best phone in it's class!!!

Like all Samsung phones, this one could be easily improved with just a few details.
Pity they don't make available software upgrades via internet like Nokia.
But still like it very much, won't change it for a long time, and next one will be samsung too, fed up with crappy Nokia quality. Can't see any phone better than this one for now.

Had it a few days. In general i like it, but there's plenty of things that can be improved. Bought it becasue of the superior camera but the camera interface is poor. When you press the shutter, the camera will try to focus and its not obvious about when you can take the photo. You just keep pressing the shutter and wait until it looks like the photo has been taken. There is no clear indication that you got a picture and the image browser is not very good, your palm is over the screen when taking pictures and you can easily end up pressing the wrong button and its not easy to zoom in and see whether you got a sharp photo.

The Browser works well enough, but compared to Safari on the iphone, its a long way behind. The interface is not as responsive and straight forward.

Everything else is great, texting is nice, the screen keyboard is very good, battery is fine, well built, more rugged than an iphone, and i have no worries about not keeping it in a case like most iphone users do

If you don't need the better camera and don't mind about being locked into the Apple system then iphone is better, but if samsung can improve usability then they would give apple serious competition

Every body that I ask for advise tell me not to take a touch screen. They say it doest last very long, the screen give problems. Please people help. Thanks

Now, I’ve got one recently and was having rather high expectations to use it as my PIM gadget, the ultimate device for all my contacts, notes, schedules and emails. My advice is don’t. Reading on all the specifications, GPS, 8 megapixels autofocus camera and all, it was a phone good on paper for a very good price compared with the others. The plus side is that the camera is so full of functions, you will have heaps of fun toying around with advance features like face detection, smile shots and such. That’s all there is to this phone, a very powerful camera system.

GeoTagging of photos, I took 2 weeks to figure it out. Firstly you have to turn on the GeoTagging feature in the camera settings. And by accident I discovered GeoTagging does work. Only after turning on the camera for 3 minutes or so before I noticed the satellite dish icon showed a 2 bar stable status and stayed that way. If the icon is in a transition state, it means the GPS receiver is still trying to log on to the GPS signals. One does really need to hold the phone high, run around a little and try all sorts of holding the phones in all imaginable orientation just to get GPS logged on. If a picture is successfully tagged, you can see the long-lat information via the info functions while browsing photos. Loading the image into Picassa/Google Earth is also another way to know if your pictures had been tagged. When you have successfully tagged pictures (one out of 15 times), it could be quite fun to view them in Google Erath. Bringing GPS features further, using Google Maps, just waiting for GPS to logon while driving is a nightmare. It is especially a big pain in my *** when near critical traffic junctions, the blue dot remained very still on the screen as the Pixon had lost it GPS signal. Which means, Samsung did a very bad job here, on this GPS thingy. They could have done better.

What about the organizer? One will orgas with frustration just to make it working. The great Samsung New PC Studio is truly a software written just to corrupt your Outlook. I ended up with 800 over double entries in my contact list (both outlook and in Pixon) and all my calendar schedules were squeezed into one single day after a synch. I had to spend one whole day just to restore all my schedules and contacts manually in my Outlook after the synch. I never want to use this poorly written and untested software ever again. No way could one trust Samsung on this one.

Samsung, they did a nice product and that’s about it. Cosmetically appealing, but functionally, very annoying. It’s more of a phone for the camera and that is the only good thing about it. Don’t expect good software skills from Koreans. This product seemed rushed into the market with appealing paper specs to compete with others, but without much sensible functional testing. Use this only as a fashion and camera gadget. Pixon - a partially functioning phone guarantee to drive you mad if you use it for more then a phone (especially GPS).

                                  Hi everybody,

Just got this phone, and am already having difficulties with the following...if i dial my voicemail, to select options i must press some numbers. But, while am making a call, the screen turns black, so i cannot do anything. If i'm really fast and the light is still on, i can't find an option to see the keypad? Anybody out there who could help me?

                                  Thanks!

maggzy, 04 Feb 2009Absolutely brilliant phone! Got it today and cant find anyt... moreTotally agree with you :)
Got a simfree factory unlocked one yesterday - my 8th mobile of the year so far (possibly more than that) and I love it!

Can't find a single thing wrong with it. to those who've said the touchscreen isn't very responsive, I definitely can't agree. The touchscreen responds to the slightest purposeful touch, no extremes of pressure needed at all.

This phone is a total dream,. If you're considering this or the Omnia *shudder*, go for the Pixon. The Omnia is one of the worst phones I've tried in a very long time.

                                        GENERAL
Screen 3.2 inches wide. Not bad.
Wide screen makes it very convenient for web browsing.
BUT Pixon lacks wifi connection. (dissapointment)
however, we can still use the 3G for internet connection.

                                        CAMERA
3.2in screen also makes it convenient for photo viewing since the 8mp camera is considered a main for this phone.
BUT, the downside is its 262k color.
Very nice camera, 8mps, BUT whats up with the LED flash?

                                        BUTTONS
Impressed on the SOS message function. Press the volume rocker buttons 4 times and it will auto send SOS msg to 5 pre-set numbers. Interesting, useful.
But the mid button functioned for the "back" function is quite inappropriate.

                                        MENU
Menus are smooth for sliding. BUT it seemed that its easy to accidentally open menus when sliding them.
Very impressive menu in the photo viewer where the pictures will slide to gravitational direction as if its flowing. Interesting but I dont think anyone will browse for pics like that, well maybe for the first few days.

                                        BATTERY
Battery life seemed to be a little short due to its large display and wide rage of functions. For new users who explores alot on this phone will need to recharge their phone in a day to day basis.

                                        DESIGN
Overall nice sleek design, only layout of buttons are a little odd for the eye.

I give it an average 8/10.
