it's announced at Feb 2006.
Its not a release date. it usually takes about 5-6 months for the manufacturers to release it after it has been announced.

Why no infrared??? Infrared is a thing of the past. Move on. We've got bluetooth now. It's a much better connection with less trouble to connect. So why need infrared? The only thing you need infrared for is to switch on you television.

It's a nice phone, I just can't believe that this phone doesn't have 3g. If you look at the picture above you can see how someone looks soccer on that phone. I can't wait to test it.

yes jay, i agree, samsung is getting better and better every year. That is what i have noticed, the company is not in a hurry to be on top but keep a steady improvement. Any samsung phones are always attractive. Many will still buy samsung phones even if just only on thier brand name and design without considering more on features, well that is brand power.
Samsung phones is considered has the fastest if not the only fastest response time and processing on thier system. Screen and sounds are always revolutionizing every year. Menus are also improved with fast response without sacrificing quality.
That is what i have observed for the past years.

samsung seam to get better and better! and as time goes on they just keep impoving and getting much more respect in the phone market! i have now worked as a phone desiner for 3 years and have worked in phone shops for over 6 years, and i have to say i have sean a huge increase in samsungs sales! more with the D500, but im sure that all these phones will sell just as good! i have seen a masive sale in the i300! sales have rocketed! and this phone will just boost them even more! i have to say its a fact that in all the shops i worked in , samsung has been the company over nokia just that little bit, people say nokia is falling but i think at the moment samsung and nokia are neck and neck as the facts i have to show! keep buying samsungs! you will always find somethink new about you phone even after 6months of having it! this has happend to me now for the last 3 phones i have! strange! but a gd thing! love this phone , but samsung watch out for other companys! thanks 4 reading!

Mark, we go for the cheapest phones because we don't have the Networks to support anything like 3G phones. Until we do, our phones will be used for nothing more than making phone calls. If and when we ever build out our networks, our business communities will actually have the opportunity to use them for business tools, which is the ultimate destination of cellular networks. The Blackberries are the first tool to be used in the business community, but even that came from Canada. They flopped when they first came out due to reception problems and cell phone carriers total screwing up marketing to the business community. They've gotten the name "Crackberry" only from individual users word of mouth. They were launched in the beginning of 2002, and took over a year to catch on.
850 mhz is needed by any business user in the states. You can't use a business tool that works for you only "most of the time".
Even T-Mobile finally caught on and established roaming agreements with AT&T Wireless/Cingular, because the 850 mhz band is what's used to get coverage in the buildings and out in the country. Find someone that has only 1900, and I'll show you somebody who uses their phone only sparingly, and it's not crucial for the success of their business.
Your thoughts?

@MLKID
LOL....half the population?? What have you been smoking? Cingular (the only national 850 carrier) only as 46 million users. T-Mobile has a few 850 roaming agreements, but nothing major. We are not a big GSM mobile market in the world-wide scheme of things. Most USA mobile users go for the cheapest handset anyways. Get out of the bubble you're living in!

850 mhz.....HELLO. We in the states won't buy your phones if they don't have 850 mhz. Why cut your customer base in half just because you won't include 850 mhz?

It's territorial DMB phone U can see DMB broadcast like TV . and can recognize such a small football moving. It has Two main speakers so that you can hear loud and clear sound. Somebody says that why samsung did not change camera from 2M to 3M. Because it is eough to get good quality pictures for normal users by 2M
