Samsung releases Galaxy Enhance-X app: deblurs, brightens and upscales images with AI
Samsung has the Expert RAW app for those skilled in photography, but the company’s wide audience means that not every Galaxy user knows what all the dials are for. The new Galaxy Enhance-X app is for them, an “AI photo upscaler and magic editor”.
As the name suggests, this is an editor for existing photos rather than a camera app like Expert RAW. These could be photos that you snapped with your phone, but don’t like how they turned out, or photos taken with older phones or cameras.
Samsung's Galaxy Enhance-X app can de-blur and brighten up photos
The AI-powered algorithms can remove blur or add some for a portrait effect, brighten up dark photos or simulate HDR, they can sharpen images, remove reflections and apply a Beauty mode too.
One interesting feature removes the moire effect that occurs when snapping a photo of a digital screen. Some options let you dial in the strength of the effect and there is a sliding window that shows a Before and After comparison. Also, both the original and the processed image are stored in the gallery, so you can go back and have another go if you decide you don’t like the result.
Some of these effects are nice for sprucing up photos taken with old, less capable cameras. This includes the AI upscaler too, which can blow up a low res image to 2x or 3x its original size.
It can also remove moire patterns from digital screens and upscale images
The Galaxy Enhance-X app is available from the Galaxy app store. There is a copy on APK Mirror too.
