      You can have your own songs as ringtones. You need to change them to AAC files which can be done on media player or by downloading a converting program. These can then be set as ringtones.

        New phone bought to replace LG5400 that had a deceased powercell( cant get replacement!! boo hoo) MP3 files are just too large to set as ringtones on this phone, but what would you expect from a mid priced phone. cant fault it. way round getting your old ring tones(polyphonic) onto the new is send them from your old using a mms and then extract the sound on your new. Easy.

          "decent" and "ringtone" don't belong in the same sentence.

          i'd say that bluetooth or i-mode are the only options.

          i bluetoothed an mp3 once and it wouldnt play due to some encoding error. hello, mp3?

                  @Mad:
                  Go on then, tell me exactly how to set an mp3 as a ringtone. I bet I can't on my phone and suspect it's the way that O2 have screwed about with it. There are absolutely zero ways of selecting an mp3 as a ringtone.

                      What is the point of an mp3 player on this phone? I see no practical use for it at all.

                      Mine is an upgrade on O2. The phone has no headphone jack, only a mini-usb jack. The box comes with no headphones or even a handsfree earpiece. And O2 don't sell them. I've not seen any mini-usb headphones on sale in the high street. And www.samsungmobile.com doesn't even list my phone on their site, so I can't get any service for the product at all as I can't choose my model.

                      So it seems the only way to hear them is on the speakerphone. Which won't be when I'm walking around town, but maybe at home when I have my hifi or computer to listen to them on (doh).

                      I managed to fill up the generous 13Mb memory with a huge FOUR mp3s. One of them it wont play at all (yes I checked the encoding etc). The only way to get them on the phone is bluetooth (no probs there) as you don't get a cable with the phone. I'm guessing that the Samsung PC Suite or whatever it's called would have one. But then it probably won't work on a mac as there is no mention of mac anywhere on their site, either for it or not, so my guess is 'not'.

                      As the mp3s are "music" and not "sounds" I can't apply them to a favourites folder or as any type of ringtone - I wanted one of them as my morning alarm call.

                      And there is nowhere to plug in extra memory, so you're lumbered with the useless 13Mb on board. The O2 upgrade came with a "512Mb memory stick" maybe I had misread that as "card". Silly me.

                      Apart from this stupid and pointless application (can't even delete it from the phone & use the memory for more worthwhile stuff like photos or whatnot), I like the tactile feedback, menu layout and overall operation of the phone. It is a bit 'small' so my hands/thumbs get tired quickly when texting.

                                        The 02 catalogue says this phone supports realtones... Then how come people here are claiming mp3s cannot be set as a ringtone? Or are realtones seen as just shorter tones that are not mp3s at all?
