Nightingale, 08 Dec 2009Can you upload easily Java and other apps or is it like all... moreJava apps are as simple as dropping into your memory card or phone memory.

However, the Application availability is nowhere near as polished as Nokia's OVI store.

Can you upload easily Java and other apps or is it like all Samsung phones?
Which one is better - the Marvel or Nokia 5530?

Okay, having bought mine yesterday after my Nokia 5530 finally gave up its fight to survive. To be fair, it had been pretty beaten in its 5 month life, so it's all fair.

Now, on to the Samsung "Marvel" as she has come to be known. I'll start design wise. I shall warn people that the silver frame isnt quite as bright silver as it appears in the review, it has a rather dark sort of...purple tint to it. it may be my eyes, I'm colourblind after all, but thats how it looks. Otherwise its pretty perfect. Its comfortable and vvery pocketable. it is incredibly light, that I will admit, however unlike the only other phone that light I had (the LG cookie) it doesnt feel flimsy. The camera is fantastic, crisp and responsive considering its in a "RELATIVELY" cheap phone. The screen reproduces colours crisply and accurately, although it does seem the blue colours are a little bit more vivid than other colours. The interface is smooth, quick and easy to use. Texting is fantastically quick. The music play ability is brilliant, although my headphones are especially good.

PAYG is meant to mean its sim locked, with a pre-pay simcard. however, a sneaky little fact is that a lot of Carphone Warehouse PAYG phones are actually unlocked.

What do they mean with "pay as you go"? Is it sim locket?. Can phones from uk be used all around Europe?

I'd go for the samsung. I currently have a Nokia 5530 and it's a fairly good phone, apart from the fact the camera is abysmal and the Symbian OS is inconsistent at best. However, it's entirely up to you. Go to carphone warehouse and try them.

Give it a couple of months and the price will fall just like it did for the 5530. It's got a slightly better spec than the Wifi Star so it will come in at a higher price. Again, it will fall and I guess there won't be too much in it. I can wait.

What I can't believe is that it's not been reviewed yet.

dazlg, 02 Dec 2009rip off no 3g wots the point? The point is to give you a choice. 3G and wifi at that price just aint gonna happen. There aren't that many keypad phones that do Wifi/3G for that price. So its one or the other. want 3G? Go get an S5600. Make your choice. or pay the extra money.

180 euros in Bangkok, the white color is superb, maybe will buy it if it records VGA 30 fps. If not i keep my faithful Pixon, even if looking a bit dull in black.
