Charging the 5610's Battery -- a reply to my own previous question.

You can't charge the Samsung S5610 battery using just any micro-USB lead, if your power source is either
a USB socket on a 13A-mains-plug charger or a car cigar lighter one. Both of those need a lead that has a connection from the fifth pin in the micro-USB plug to the 5 volts pin. A lot of micro-USB leads do not have that connection. Even ones labled Samsung.
The micro-USB has 5 pins, but the function of the extra pin seems to be just for battery charging purposes. The original USB has only 4 connections, one of which is 5 volts. There are also 5 pins on the small USB as plugged into a Tom Tom.
A micro-USB lead lead that lacks the connection, will work if it is plugged into a USB socket on a PC.
Strange result that, until you realise the 5610 must be making the connection internally when it recognizes it is using a PC-USB ---- it also displays the message "connected with PC".
