Betty, 29 Sep 2012I agree with you. The memory size is just ridiculous. I foo... moreThere is a simple solution to this problem. all you need to do is root your phone. Superuser is a simple application download which enables you to root the phone or download it onto your memorycard via pc and then start up the phone using bios mode.

install the software and then you can download an app such as droidsailsApp2SD which will move all the apps you want from phone memmory to SD.

Just remember things like widgets need to be on the phone itself to auto start on startup but if you dont want auto widgets then everything from your playstore to your facebook can be moved

I was totally missled by the phone dealer they told me that this phone was not only water proof but also shock/shatter proof i would have never pushed the limits had i known its limits were water only mine took a swan dive off some equipment i was working on (more than 30 ft) onto the concrete and shattered the glass on the front so it turns out it is water proof and shock proof just not shatter proof cause she still works like a dream despite her busted screen ha

I use the Samsung Galaxy xCover (GT-S5690) every day.
Had problem with the first version of the phone (before I got a new one from Samsung, through: thephonehouse.com).

The button to turn of the screen/turn of the phone got stuck.
But this was not the only problem with this phone, the main problem is that the internal memory is very tiny.

Sure the screen is bad, but you have to make sure what types of phones you are comparing it to, you can't compare it to the Samsung Galaxy SII or SIII or a another phone that came after the release of the xCover. And the main usage of this phone is not to have the best hardware properties, or hardware performance. But to handle ruff surroundings like water and dirt. And work day and night without interruption.

For my first version of the phone I had problem with the instability of the system. But learned later that that the reason for this was that the size of the microSD - card was to big (32 GB) and that I had format it in a Windows system.

You have to format It in the phone. After you get it from the store, the safest thing to do is to reset it, and simultaneously format the micro - SDcard (the maximum size has to be: 8 GB, not 32 GB as the manufacturer indicate). The reason for this is that the big 32 GB card slows down the system.

And the last thing to worry about is the tiny internal memory, you can't have to many programs in the system, even when you have 8 GB in external memory (micro SD). Every program still need internal memory. And you have only about 150 megabyte to store your programs :(

But now when I have a different phone, but still xCover it works fine :) You have not to worry to get protective shell or screen protective films. This is unnecessary for this phone. I have even had it in a sauna, but kept it in a bucket of water to cool it down.

Recommend you to get the Samsung Galaxy xCover (GT-S5690)if you wan't a phone that is robust.

I had this samsung phone for three days and smoke started coming out of it. The fire brigade said I was very lucky to be alive.

Samsung sold me a Galaxy Xtreme 2 weeks ago and now it doesn't work. I talked to 3 customer service reps and all of them gave me the brush off. I'm throwing this 300 dollar cell phone in the trash and will not buy another Samsung product ever!

Worst phone ever. I bought it in March and from the beginning I had different problems. First the Internet signal was constantly down. I had to reset the phone 3-4 times a day. When somebody was calling it looked that the phone was closed even if it was not. Sometimes the person calling me said that he was calling but I had no missed calls. The phone used to interrupt in the middle of the conversation. The phone was closing down all of a sudden at least once a day. I had it sent to the service twice. The first time they changed the soft. After that the Internet connection issue was solved. But the phone still wasn't ok. The second time they gave me the same phone, but new. Now I have to sent it back to the service because the calling and closing problems still persist. I am not pleased at all with this phone. And lets not forget that it is a very slow one also.

I have a new one that is deaf as a post. Very poor reception of Telstra signal compared to other phones here in the office. Not sure if it's an individual faulty unit or not. Multiple S3's here all work much better on the same network.
