You will not have for example a widget storing locally tons of information, without accessing the internet, like an application does.
And even if some widgets, store locally some offline info, such as games, these will be limited and far few between.
No comparison to the power, variety and depth of applications.
Regarding android, you are right, I have not used it so I cannot comment on it. Do you think the touch screen experience is better than that of the iphone?

We are not saying the Jet is no... morenice comments but you have not used android. A true competitor to the iphone and Samsung is coming out with loads

truely excellent. probably the best touch non-smartphone out there. now if Samsung release a SDK for TouchWiz and get some more widgets out, then it'll become a smartphone. It takes guts to release a phone with this power and not use WM, s60 or android. Good on yer Samsung!

Anonymus: yes, offline profile is the same as "flight mode" and don't need restart
(I can't tell you anything about future copy/paste. I'm a user not a developer of samsung ;) )
Terminator: if you have a link to SE tracker, I can test it for you
Sujay_Bose: Yes, you can view (but not edit) pdf and doc files. (maybe more, I haven't tested else jet)
Tan: it charges about 2,5 hours for me

And my question: did anyone managed to set up skype on Jet. At the moment Skype doesn't have Jet version. Witch one did you use?

Tan, 15 Sep 2009Hi guys, how is the battery life? How long you need to char... moreHi tan,if you ask about battery life perhaps you should check out the specs.of Jet,the Li-ion battery of Jet is 1100 mAh as for Omnia it's 1440 mAh,the difference is obvious and you've already had your answer.
Also don't forget to charge the initial charging for at least 6 hours,as for the short battery life in Omnia try updating the phone's software,it works for me when i first used Omnia it won't last a day even on standby mode,after i had the new software it drastically stands out for 14 hours moderate usage.

About the weather, the widget shows only the actual weather for a defined city or it can show 5 days forecast? is there an internal weather app?
Ringtone volume is as loud as SE W995 or C905?

No torch at the moment (i miss it to)
You can set up any kind of java app. from jar file (via cable, mem. card, e-mail or direct download)

This phone is very interesting because it's not as expensive as the Omnia HD or Omnia 2 and has the famous Amoled screen! But I have some practical questions:
- Is there any GPS based app that count km and estimated calories burned like Tracker from SE??
- Can you use the flash leds like a torch light?
- Is it better than nokia 5800 under direct sunlight?
- Can you install apps and games with USB cable or bluetooth? (it was impossible on old samsung)

We are not saying the Jet is not a good phone. We are saying it is not the Best phone out there and it is not a smartphone. If anyone thinks that Samsung did not misled with its advert (smaerter than a smartphone) then go to sites that sell this phone and see how many have mistakenly placed it under the smartphone category...
But what we are really pissed off about is that this phone did have the potential to be one of the top ever. But Samsung opted to put out there just another good multimedia phone. fair enough. But you do understand that there are tons of good multimedia phones out there and tons of good multimedia AND smartphones out there.
Overall it is a good phone with good features. But it cannot be compared to any multimedia smartphones and it cannot be compared to the iphone as far as touchscreen epxerience and intuitive functions are concerned (it does not even come close).
Also, the problem here goes far beyond this phone and far beyond Samsung. The problem is with touch screen phones in general. How can a company which never created a touch screen phone, come out with the best and most innovative touchscreen phone and THREE YEARS later the old dinosaurs of the industry cannot even come close to creating a touch screen that comes even a bit close to that of the iphone.
And I am pissed off about this because I dont like the iphone (too big, too many missing features, too expensive) and I cannot comprehend why the rest cannot catch up.

how to turn on the flash light since a week that i
got the mobile and suddenly found that we can turn on
the flash light by pressing *#0*# then press 7.......
