To be true, this phone supports no high tech softwares (only java), usability is quite a pleasure though. But if one is only willing to buy a mobile with the best multimedia features and capabilities at a resonable price then jet is the thing. The pixel density of its screen is the best i have seen till date. At least untill the release of iphone 4. So i suggest you to browse through this site and read all the user opinions of the sets you like to help you in a satisfying purchase. Gsmarena is the best. It helped me a lot with its awesome reviews. Tip: the mobiles which are reviewed by gsmarena are the ones that you should be interested in. First read the full review of gsmarena and then go for the user reviews. It will help you a lot.

Anonymous, 10 Jun 2010Considering the following phones and their prices here in P... moreI want to tell u one thing more if u like to download applications all the time and can neglet all other things u can go for i5700 spicia also but then it will be a great compromise on great LED display of JET,DVD LIKE VIDEO RECORDING, 5 megapixel autofocus camera, radio ,document viewer and many other features which spica does,nt have .well now its up to you .

1. I never had a Reception problem always shows full signal on my cell may be you live or work in a deep basement or Bunker thats why or u may need software update
2.Conversation can break sometimes on every phone not only JET it depends on the both ends either ur far from network range or the person ur talking try calling the same no. some other time u will feel th e difference.
3.I also checked the issue u were saying of it takes more than 5 sec. if u dial a wrong no .and want to call again but i did nt find this thing in my mobile it just takes less than 2 sec.
4.browser works fine for me it gives u a blank sreen when ur not using a internet for more than 2 min.
5. I dont know much about emails and activesync cause i dont use these features.
6. In the end i would like to recommend u to update ur phone software my software version is -DDILL2 U can try this .Good luck

Samsung I5700 Galaxy Spica (€249,90)
Huawei U8230 (€199,90, named a1 in Portugal)

I think its an awesome phone, i hate how IPhone nerds always compare that PC-Nerd-on-the-go crap to every phone on the market. If i wanted to waste my life downloading crappy Apps then i would of bought an Iphone, This phone has faster processor than the Iphone, so i use this exactly for my needs and boy it does the job.

The specs on GSMARENA say that this phone can be HSDPA 850/1900 but doesn't spcify this as specifically being a North American version (NAM). Does anyone know if this is just a setting adjustment witin the phone or does Samsung make a separate NAM version? Or is GSM Arena just wrong in the spec? I have searched everywhere and cannot find a solid answer.

No personal enhancement can be made in this mobile. So it has no OS (operating system) like windows 6.5, symbian s60, android v2.2, etc. Its just got a proprietary user interface to control media. So its safe to say that its a multimedia monster at its price. With its 300ppi screen, the 800mhz processor and the 5mp autofocus camera, its one of the best multimedia device in mobile history.

one thing i always did, when i have a gadget that not so good, i can make it good for me, coz i dont think negative ....
negative thinking can cause you stress...
and when you get stress, negative will come out...Think positive, do positive.
i love all my gadgets coz i bought them on my own pocket...

This phone is crap. PLEASE KEEP THE PHONE FOR AT LEAST A MONTH before you post your review! I have had this phone for 7 months now.
Reception is crap. My phone looses signal mid conversation. Then I KEEP PAYING! Then my SMS's are delayed, the conversation breaks-up badly. I think the phone struggles with GSM reception, it works fine in 3G areas.
Phone lags. The phone is not very responsive. When you end a call (ie dialed the wrong number) it takes about 5sec before the call is ended and you can try again.
No VOIP. The phone does NOT do VOIP. period.
Browser is crap. The browser sometimes displays a blank page when it is unable to show the page. You also have to wait for the WHOLE page to load before you can enter text/move the window/etc.
ActiveSync is crap. Firstly, you need an exchange account which is hard to come-by if you are not a corporate. Google mail has recently started working after GOOGLE made a change. Shame on you Samsung. However, lots of ppl reporting problems with activesync on the jet with gmail.
No Push email. The "Push" email uses activesync. You can set activesync to Push, BUT if you loose your internet connection (ie out of signal, in the underground, driving through a tunnel) push stops and the setting defaults to your last used, which is minimum 5 minutes. ie NO PUSH EMAIL!!!
No HTML emails. EVERYONE uses HTML emails. These are the emails with pictures and colored text, bold, italics etc. If you receive an HTML email, you can only view it in your browser(which is crap remember). When you reply, you loose the other person's comments from HTML. Your email is ALWAYS plain text. Like the text in these posts.
Poor sunlight visibility. In direct sunlight, this phone is NOT VISIBLE!!! You CAN NOT see ANYTHING!
No threaded sms. nough said.
No Copy and Paste. NOWHERE!!!
App store is useless. Samsung, please stop calling it an app store. It just aint. The store only has proprietary aps. AND the apps (widgets) are basically just shortcuts to web pages. THAT IS NOT AN APPLICATION!! ITS A SHORTCUT!!!
Battery with activesync last a day. Yes, 1 day, if you check mail every 5min, maybe less if you actually use the phone.
Touch Screen vs Press Screen. For those who don't understand. a Touch screen is a capacitive screen. you softly touch the screen and it responds on TOUCH(ie iPhone). a resistive screen (ie jet) needs to be pressed. Nail works best. KNOW this, and UNDERSTAND this.
GPS is crap. It takes 4 ever to get GPS signal. It uses internet to get maps, if your internet is slow... you do the math. It also randomly looses GPS signal, in which case you will have to stop your car and chill in the sun until it gets signal again.
O yes, and if you are lucky enough to get a vodafone branded hand-set you are EVEN WORSE OFF!! Vodafone have never, and do not intend to keep up with software upgrades. You will be stuck with the first faulty software firmware. Unless you "jailbreak" the phone and loose your warranty. You will only be able to install a limited number of widgets. No un-install of old widget to make space for new one, you are stuck with the crappy widgets you choose. So be careful, every widget counts!
I will continue to support Samsung with my TV, Microwave, etc. BUT NEVER will a get another Samsung phone.
PLEASE just buy an iPhone or BlackBerry already. You will in the end. I have now.

nas, 09 Jun 2010hey guys, in what country does the original samsung phone m... moreAs I understand it, Samsung phones are supposed to be made in South Korea, as with other Samsung products, unless the South Koreans have it manufactured in China or Taiwan just as Americans have their products manufactured in other countries.
Yesterday, one of my assistants offered his original audio/video cable so I tried it with my Jet, lo and behold the only thing that happened was my TV became the external speaker of my Jet, no video came out. After 6 songs, the system conked out, the sound just refused to come out of the TV anymore even if you pull out and re-plug the cables.
Honestly, the longer I have my Jet the more I dislike it, it feels like having a sexy girlfriend, with all the right curves, alabaster skin, fantastic face, breathtaking smile... like having a Megan Fox GF with bad breath and smelly underarms, she's very nice to look at but you wouldn't want to be intimate with her for long, good grief you wouldn't even want to introduce her to your mother... Hahaha!
This is NOT SAYING THAT ALL Jet units are as bad as mine, maybe others out there have better experience with their Jets. As for those owners whose Jet units are performing MUCH BETTER, boy I'm very glad you're not in my predicament.
I sure would like to sell mine but if I start narrating my woes regarding my Jet noone will buy it, not to do so on the other hand would be plain dishonest, so I'm stuck with a lemon.
Oh well that's life, you win some you lose some and this one is a bit of a pain in your wallet.

do you know guys that ANDROID OS is currently being processed to run on Jet. How cool is that!!!? It'll have virtually 2 OS in 1 phone, an OS running on Phone Memory and another on Memory Card. You can see for yourselves on darkforest.forum.com
