Pep, 03 Apr 2009I just tried out the phone and I must say, it disapoint me.... moreI have had an S8300 for a few days, and it's not slow if you don't use the widget screen. Switch to the apps screen and it's almost real time. Some things a a tiny bit laggy (such as the photo viewer), but you have to remember, it is manipulating 4MG files - 4 times the size of those on the snappier iPhone. There are some clever features, such as Fake Call (LOL) and the interface that appeard during a call is nice - very iPhone like in fact. No, it's not an iPhone, but it's fun and logical to use once you know all the ins and outs. Camera quality is mind blowing in good light.

Got this phone this morning and i must say i am impressed with it.

My current old phone is an LG Viewty, and although this appears to lack the QWERTY keyboard which the preview model had (unless mines broken and it doesnt access it when i turn my phone), its not the end of the world. The touch screen is very responsive, but be aware its not designed to be PRESSED its designed to be touched or tapped, so no hittingit hard and then complaining when it doesnt do what you want.

Mine came with google maps on it and i must say it is rather fun, especially when it works with street view.

Battery on it may not last long if you constantly call, but it took me about 6 hours of constant fiddling, playing music and playing games to get rid of that last damned bar before i charged it!

Overall i would say it is a very nice stylish phone, a little impractical without the QWERTY but hey, you cant win em all.

When it came, I was a bit disappointed because I liked tocco TOO much and it looks smaller screen and similar way of working. Nothing much new.
However, just to look into the phone itself, it's very good I can say.

            1) 8MP it does the job very well. Compare to other 8MP phones, it is on it's way.
            2) Sound channel. was it 5.1 something? GOOD!
            3) very slim. Not many people will understand this is touch screen type of phone.
            4) Scratch proof body. Haven't used long but I can feel.
            5) gif wallpaper support and great speed when it connected to computer by pc suite.
            6) battery. I am playing with it in all the way and the battery is still left half. (Well, this is compare to my previous motorola V9 or f480)
I am sure if the battery was made in Korea, it would last even longer. Viewty and F480 with korean battery did last 7 days with normal usage without charging further.
            7) has 3types of font
            8) Quick responsive touch screen.
to add one more really bright and clear screen.

            So far So good!

It did happen to my previous tocco (F480) and after debranding it became quick.
I also upgraded to this phone and I don't see slow or anything you mentioned.

                  is this phone good?
                  how's the battery??
                  how's the UI?
I really couldn't stand my previous
omnia and sold it off because
it was so hard to type sms and UI seemed too complex.
I am thinking of buying iphone or ultra touch
or LG arena phone. what do you think I should buy?

I have the phone from Vodafone for 2 days now, and i really have to say that i'm impressed by 4:
                        1) The 8mp camera is absolutely wonderful.
                        2) Capacitive OLED (images and videos looks like HD).
                        3) The 5.1 channel output mode specially when using the headset.. amazing.
                        4) The background can be dealt with as a page so you can scroll up & down while the B.G image is still & you can put any gadgets on it like icons.
                        And i didn't like 4:
                        1) GPS (Hassle to use & Inaccurate)
                        2) Battery life is too short (specially when using the vibration accompanied with fingers touch)
                        3) Accelerometer works only with images, videos and internet browsing
                        4) Memory card is not hot-swappable, and the one you get in the package is just 1GB
Honestly, i called vodafone to exchange it with another phone..

I love this phone exactly what I was after but the camera seems to be the worst 8mb much like the tucco was the worst 5mb. Keeping my c905 for that reason. Very very class phone though.

I'm able to upgrade my phone in about a months time.
I'm on vodafone UK, so it's a bit limited on the range of phones available but i'm happy with my contract.
At the moment i've got a SE k770i - quite a good phone and i like the camera. I now want to move on to a phone that is touch screen, better res camera and wifi. Oh, I also don't want a chunky phone! - something on the slim side.
I was looking at: Sony Ericsson W715, Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition, Nokia 5800 and the Samsung Omnia. What one is best, they all have there pros and cons. I was thinking the Omnia, but is it a little too old now? Does anybody know if vodafone UK will be bringing out any new phones within the next month? Maybe the Omnia HD?

If this thing has wi-fi, It could have been a more lucrative buy than Omnia HD.

i just got mine today. it's a pretty nice phone! i am impressed. it has pros and cons,,, feedback on the touch is slow ( the transition animation is choppy and looks rushed, or just my phone does that) . if you haven't owned a Samsung up to this point and this is your first, you need a lot of time to get used to this phone,,,i owned Sony-E for the past 4-5 year and switched to Nokia N82 when it came out and had a bad experience with that one ( dead pixels and bunch f other problems) i thought the camera on N82 was nice but this one blew my mind 8 mp, but i still haven't figured out the speed dial on this one.( help anyone?)
one thing i hate about this phone is that u have to use microUSB instead of just a regular 3.5 jack for the audio (so u have a micro usb to 3.5 jack cable hanging from your shirt when you are listening to music, useless)

overall i like the phone. (they could do better)

fong, 02 Apr 2009can you choose multiple ringtones to multiple frineds on th... moreFong, you can actually have one tone/ring for each name in your list, here goes the hows and whens - Enter the agenda mode, then select the name you want to "edit", enter the name in edit mode; then scroll down to "ring", or "tone" (here in my i900 the sequence is ... IM, e-mail, cellphone and then tone), CLICK and you will find a list of tones, pick one and be happy.

Now, the trick to have many rings to chose from is to save them in "my files", you can have .mp3 .midi and some other options.

How did I discover this? Well, took me a while. Manual does not give you a clue, but if you "think windows wise", you may stand a chance.

                                        Good luck
