Hello my friends,
I am posting this as a review for the Samsung Wave ii, first of all I have had this phone for about 4 months now and pretty much know every little corner of the device.
This phone has some of the best qualities in the smart phones sector, looks awesome,great camera, feels nice to touch and have a good sound quality. These qualities might be the reason why you should buy this device (same reasons for me at that time).
But to be honest with you, you should consider more things when buying a cell phone, especially that it will be your companion for a long time. This device is supposed to be one of the strongest in the market. but unfortunately it's not even close to any of the other devices we compare it to. it might have the same hardware as the Galaxy S but it's surely not even close to it. you are probably wondering why? Main reason is the Software.
Simply put, the Bada OS Sucks. it lags most of the time, not enough applications at the store and most importantly NO UPDATES at ALL.
Let's break it down here,
1- The Bada OS is slow. you can't run more than 3 or 4 applications at a time, though it has a 1GHz CPU. this causes me always to close other apps I don't want to close and some times lose info I need. I can't stress how annoying is that folks.
2-For an old user of an iPhone, The Samsung App store has nothing but trashy apps, cheap stupid apps is all you get. I mean, this is not what I paid for after all right? Most of the apps are useless and worthless, very little themes and Widgets which all makes your life harder.
One thing that most guys care about is having a SKYPE app on their phone, just to be able to skype on the walk. I can't imagine I bought a phone with a front camera that I CAN'T use. how ridicules is that people? I demand a skype application ASAP.
And after a whole lot of search on the internet it looks like Samsung is blaming Skype for not developing an app for the Bada OS, But hey, if all the essential things that have to be in a phone aren't there, why put it out in the marketplace anyway?????
3- NO UPDATES at ALL, I mean come on Samsung. why can't I get the Bada 2.0 or an Android OS running on my phone? I always feel like I am missing on a lot of good stuff just because I have the stupid Bada OS on my phone. My life would have been better if this phone had an Android OS on it.
Bottom line: Don't buy this phone unless you want a normal phone, but if you are looking for a SMARTPHONE then go look some where else. I will probably sell my wave ii and get an iPhone or Galaxy S2 soon.

useless fone... bought it in an xcitement ... bt one thng screen resolution is superb ... vdo recording is great .. sound is gud... bt OS sucks big tym... n till nw no firmware frm samsung to upgrade it to BADA 2.0 ... gng to buy note i717 .. loving it...

Fed up of waiting for my results. Was scheduled to come on 15th feb. But now expected to come tomorrow, or maybe 12th, or later. I had planned to get xperia play only after that. But now, outta frustration, placed my order today itself. Its Rs 22k in dhanbad, jharkhand (india). Will get it tomorrow.

@ crazy-fan, if ur budget is big, get an iphone. Dont think twice. Haters gonna hate, but apple rocks. I have only used an ipod touch 2g from that company, n i swear it was something worth its price.

And y xperia play? It costs 22k. So some 5-7k more than the cheapest smartphones. Its gamepad gives me some new experience. And this is the droid with best game catalogue, considering sony continues to push exclusive contents to it (not exclusive, rather early releases, in few months advance to other oem flagships).

maybe u are using matte screen guard
camera is awesome if u take it properly
may be videos u take from website is not good

Yes. The answer is: yes you can update bada 1.2 to bada 2.0. I have already done it to my Wave II. Not so difficult. Good luck!
