Just to point out that this phone HAS got an F.M Radio. Also you CAN select an mp3 to have as your txt message tone. Two major problems between nokia and samsung phones resolved. Well done samsung. I will be getting this phone when it comes out.

This phone is due for release on 18th May in UK so we'd all love to hear opinions on the phone's functions when you get it. And also on battery life (how does it compare to X820 which was original Ultra Edition?) This is Ultra Edition II which is supposed to have better power efficiency.

        Some things to point out.
To the person who said Samsung are making thinner phones and taking away features; they're not! These are brand new designs made with brand new materials, so they're NOT taking away features such as memory card slots, they're just not adding the features. You don't have to buy one of these thin phones. Samsung have plenty of others which are still thin AND have memory card slots. I don't mind if my phones have memory card slots or not as I back up my photos and videos to my PC when the internal memory is getting low.

nice info Kal, that may seem cool but ther are so many phones out there already that has that kind of form factor esp the first 3mp Xcute DV1 but as a have seen the size was really an innovation and it will sure fit to any pocket.

now i'll go to my main purpose, ther are two vital features missing: memory card slot and Radio(this feature is almost negligible as most samsungs don't have it, when Samsung will include MicroSD slot for it's ULTRA 6 and 5 series? is microSD still too large to fit it in? maybe SD shopuld introduce new format supermicroSD? which is half the length and width with 3/4ths of thinnes of it...

Just to give you another example..here is a link for Samsung's version of camcorder DMB phone SCH-B750, very similar to N93..but look at the thickness, its 16mm.

            http://www.slashphone.com/102/7144.html

The point is, you can have features and still keep the thickness low. Thats whats Samsung stands for IMO.

I'm sorry but delicate things needs carefull handling. if you are so absent minded then ofcourse this model is not for you. Keeping this in jeans pocket is not a good idea at all.

Please know that you are talking about one particular model, thats the thinnest so far and yes it doesnt have the memory card slot. There are plenty of other models from samsung to choose from with few extra mm to have some more features...then again those are thinner that other manufacturers..go for it.
But to tell you from what I have seen in the past..chances are, when this model will be out with any particular carrier, they will include that memory card slot. It happend before. Cheers!!

In reply to a previous comment. My friend sat on his X820. He isn't the 'lightest' of men, the inevitable weak point of the lcd broke lol.

I think your right I don't see the point in a phone this thin if you take away expandable memory. For pete's sake samsung only make phones this thin when they can't break and when you're able to keep all the features when the phone is made thinner.

I mean apart from the stupid idea that they can say this is the thinnest phone what is the point in having it so thin if take away all the features. I'd rather have the phone a couple of mm thicker if I could play music with it. Samsung need to get their priorities right.

Nice to hear from you that you are bit of understand between samsung and nokia..
but one thing that i dont agree with you that... they (nokia and samsung) are not using same technology... as if the phone getting smaller .. the company have to re-develope better Nano-or better thechnology to fit into smaller phones.. such as ... so far.. samsung has world slimmest 3MP camera chip and technology. which is same camera effect with what Nokia using but Nokia's 3MP camera chip and technology is lot more bigger. so it can not fit into slimmer phone...also that is not only different because they are using different case... Nokia they do not have echnology to fit to smaller phones.. so they are keep making huge heavy phones. Like N'Series.... But you know that Samsung have every most best technology in the world , such as best LCD , Best Micro Chip and Electronic. also Samsung has Car Company in Korea. they even have insulance, supermarket and theme park as well in Korea.
Like N95 which is big and heavy but it has everything... also samsung can easily make better than N95/... they have own GPS technology and LCD technology and Camera Technology etc... which is totally diffrent with Nokia who get all the parts from Other companies....

Well said @ Ultra Edition II

Nokia produces the same technology in different cases, that's all! All their phones are the same, just different designs! These Samsung Ultra Edition II phones are breaking records. They're getting thinner and thinner, but with better technology.

I have the X820 (6.9mm) and would love to upgrade to the U100 (5.9mm) not only because it's 1mm thinner but because the camera is 3MP as opposed to the X820's 2MP one. With Nokia though, people usually upgrade so they've got a different looking phone which does the same as their last one. They release too many phones too often so are using the same technology; it can't progress in such a short space of time.

I've had the D500 (crap camera and even worse video), D600 (excellent camera and CIF video), D900 (fantastic!) and now I've got the X820 which isn't as feature rich as the D900 but it's just so thin!!

I love Samsung and think they do a grand job in producing gorgeous, feature-rich phones and hope they keep up the good work!!

to: Those who want compare with Nokia's Phones Function with Samsung Ultra-Edition

... Samsung making phone which they can make slim as possible.. so that there is huge limit of putting technology insid 5.9mm phone... No Expansion Memory? --of course samsung want put Expension Memory slot as well but they can not put slot for 5.9mm slim phone.. as it is too slim to put.. and Samsung can make any better phone like Nokia if they are making huge stupid phones.. like N-Series.. they are too big to carry.. even you can not put into your pocket... if phone is bigger there is more chance to put more technology... and Nokia used it and thats Old stuff...which every Mobile company can make it like huge heavy phone.. with lots of functions... but Samsung goes with their concept which is Ultra Slim Edition..

This size thing is ridiculous. Samsung, get a grip. Wait till you hear about a Samsung Ultra phone snapping in two. Won't be surprising if you consider a klutz holding a phone such as this or someone sitting on his phone.

This phone looks fantastic. It'll be exactly the same software as the X820 but in a slimmer package and with a 3MP camera instead of 2MP. Video is great in 320 x 240 (It can also do 352 x 288 although the frame rate is slightly lower). A memory card ISN'T required at all! If you want to take your music with you then take an MP3 player. What I do is take a few photos and videos, send them to my PC via Bluetooth then delete them from the phone's memory. Simple.
