Well, what I do think is that you shouldn't compare things that are not comparable... "D900 is much better"?! What does that mean? It's like you said "Porsche is much better than Opel"! What does that bring as information for this new mobile?! D900 has more features, THAT is a FACT, but thanx, we already knew it.
Many people still don't need to have a camera(which is, on most affordable phones, of a poor quality) or an MP3 player on their cell.
What would be interesting to know here is opinions of people who have or experienced this X500 and can report its autonomy, sound quality, speed, keyboard ergonomy, etc.

Hello!
It's true, the memory is quite ridiculous... for an MP3 player or if you want to open a mobile video store! But for those you mainly want to phone, send messages, I think it's quite enough. MP3 functions? Why not with that little memory?! I don't always carry my MP3 player, but I always have my cell phone ; so with the bluetooth, I can transfer a song from another computer, or a friend's phone. Plus having an MP3 ringtone. Same thing for images someone would send me, I can store them just for a while ; 8Mb is relatively enough for that.
I think the more memory you have, the more you will tend to use your phone for... anything else but a phone! So it's all about the use you'll make of it...
Oh, Peter, you seem to own that X500 ; what about the battery life then? Better than z500, ok, but that doesn't mean anything to me! lol With a normal use, how many days more or less? And is the sound quality good? Especially loudspeaker... Thank you in advance! wal from belgium too.

A great phone for a low price! 139 euro's in Belgium! Battery life is much better than the Z500, what about 8Mb and MP3??

this is just an improve version of x300 so this will cost more than x300 thus it will not be cheap. at least it will cost more than 6,600 philippine peso.

Come on, the battery life is relatively low. Anyway, its SAMSUNG's trademark of having low battery life.

Samsung, it does not make sense when you bring to the market a phone with MP3 player with 8Mb memory size, not even with a radio! What kind of files.mp3 do you expect users to use? The design is Ok as, the daily use and the practically are major lack from this phone. So, I fully agree with most of contributors here. Thanks, Blaise.

calm down everyone. I think people should wait till they see the price of a phone before they judge its buyability. As someone mentioned, this phone is most probably aimed at the lower-end market. When it does come out, it will probably be at the same price as the old x150 or x200. If someone only wants to pay $99(AUD) for a phone and they get features like external display and mp3 ringtones, I think they will be fairly happy!
As for the ongoing war between samsung and nokia that seems to permeate this web site, well all I can say is... brand loyalty is a fast diminishing concept in this day and age, where information is easily accesible to consumers. Go by function, reliability, and value for money - don't go by brand.

let me remind you those phone samsung release in korea only are not mass market, or widely spread. its easier to manufacture strong components at a small scale.
like the motorola VIP series motorola have 1.3mpx ED-VOCDMA in a small phone when the market was still with vga cameras just a few 1.3mpx. but now that technology its outdated. and motorola its only selling because its design and price. still it high end features quality are not best (when the rokr E2 in mp3 maybe...)
and samgsung well they have 8mpx cameraphone but it lacks all the other features. its user interface its begin all the other manufactures, their designs are the same silver/black slider clamshells (even though now they are thin), they cameras are of average quality. same with their mp3s. lacking fm radios in lots of high end models. from a long time will not heard about samgsung. The best mp3 or the best camera. they are just average.

wow...amazing...bluetooth nd mp3 player...nice...but wouldn't this fone store 2 average sized songs MAX?...what wid this 8mb memory...what's the point of bluetooth then?...no memory or camera?...huh?...Samsung...what's goin on here??

Totally waste!!!These are the two words i can say about this phone.Absolutely illogical of the samsung team to provide a music player when the internal memory is a miniscule 8 M.B.If we can condone this fallacy again there crops up another grave mistake of not having a camera.Common man!!give us something good loaded with what are becoming the basic features of every phone......

No for everything! no edge, no sd card, no camera... It´s a good phone 10 years ago... Samsung boring! Changing to SE.

atleast the quality of samsung phones arent cheap like nokia or boring like SE. design and function wise, samsung has always been infront of the pack. its nokia who is always last to catch on to a good idea. have a look at the phones being releasd in the korean market, and u will see that samsung are lightyears infront of anyone. i must admit this phone isnt that good, but it seems to be a lower range phone. in saying that, this is a much better lower range phone than nokias useless vomit smelling low range phones

huh? no radio? At least give us a radio, whats the use of the mp3 player when internal memory only 8mb?
