To sam_user : The manual came with X700 has Answering Machine (menu 5.6) feature....and the actual words are: "Use this menu to inform callers of your current situation and to guide then to leave messages. You can take the call by pressing while this feature is activated...." It has options like...".Inbox..... Settings (activate, time setting, screen setting, select the gretting)..... Record my greeting.... Delete All....." May be your firmware is old!....If your set is on warranty, then trying to get new firmware on X700 will void the warranty....So contact to service center ( or the company responsible the warranty.....since this issue is not included in warranty!)

I forget to tell u that my brother bought this phone two months ago and i tell u what are the good and bad things first.
The good: Attractive design, 1.3MP camera, MP3 player, video recorder, bright display ,user friendly and good keypad
The Bad: MP3 cannot multi-tasking while doing other things, no full screen video, short battery life
Conclusion: I don't agree with the review which gsmarena have and the person doesn't know what is a good phone and giving it a rubbish and please check it again.
My Advice: for those who got short battery life, please adjust your brightness to one and no lights for keypad and the battery will last longer than two days and please don't talk nonsense if u hate this phone. I will see wherever they will agree with me or not.

to SOHAIL:?if you are downloading songs from any website or something ie directly to the phone then ur issue cannot be resolved... but if u r downloading songs from pc then all u have to do is to connect the phone to ur pc via usb and go to menu..settings..phone settings..usb settings..mass storage?ur pc il detect a mass storage device and u wil be able to view/add/edit/delete in ur mem card...

I just bought this phone its very nice,my issue is that how can I download MP3 directly to memory card whenever I try to download it downloads first in phone memory then I have to manually shift that MP3 song to memory card...plz help

Dear Usman,
I checked with the phone menu-messages-on no. 6 I have the broadcast messages and not the Answering Machine....
Also, the user manual does not highlight any such thing. Please let me what to do ?

To Danish3:
To have cell info display in X700 follow this:
Go to Messages->Broadcast Messages
Select Channel -> All Channels -> Enable
Then come back, and
Select Receive -> On
with this the service area is displayed.
Its working for me.

hi.. there is no bluetooth issue with this phone.. im also tranfering files to/from nokia 6230i, 3230 and se p910i... it works perfect.. n btw: IS THERE ANY WAY TO MINIMIZE APPLICATIONS??

is thr some thing like "cell info display" in x700, i m using a certain service in my area which shows in which specific town u r in of that city, n that option can be enabled in Nokia sets, the name of that option in Nokia is "cell info display".
n is thr a way to minimize the mp3 player yet or not, n listening to radio while using camera etc :D.

Please note that D500 and X700 both have same secret codes due to similar OS software…..
If 3gp file has resolution higher than (176 x 144 pixels) , then it cannot be supported by X700…. Also check the height:width aspect ratio of JPEG file…. Try to download some other image jpeg files….

Here is the fully featured MP4 / 3GP mobile video converter……named as “MPEG4 DIRECT MAKER” …. It has only one limitation that it is 30 days unregistered version but you can make complete DVD movie into MP4 or 3GP video files ….. There is NO file size restrictions….Just forget about imtoo or any other software….and this is the address:

After installation, open “MPEG4 Direct Maker” and click to open “ Multiple video format converter” …
Now, go to “Options” …. Setup destination file formats….
Select “mp4 simple profile” as file format ( if making mp4 file)….
Or Select “3GP aac audio for music” as file format ( if making 3gp file)….
Video bitrate: 120 to 160 kbps (depends on file)…..
Audio bitrate: 48 kbps , Sample rate: 11025 khz , Channel: Stereo…..
Resizing image : 176 x 144 pixels ( don’t increase it because X700 cannot support higher than this!)
Frame Rate : 15
Select Image Mode : Auto ( if source file is a DVD movie vob file)
Select Image Mode : RGB24 ( if source file is AVI, divX, dat vcd ,mpg)
Select destination file format : MP4 / MOV/ PSP / 3GP
Now, click file menu….open files….when file is loaded…. Check on name of opened file (on right side)….
And click “convert”…..That’s it…. You can set beginning and end positions of mp4 file and click “ convert beginning position to end position”….
Please don’t increase resultant mp4 file size above 30 MB since for bigger file, X700 cannot play video smoothly….So ideal mp4 file size is 20 to 30 MB…. And complete DVD will be converted into 9 to 12 MP4 video files which you can easily transfer into X700’s memory card using USB Mass Storage Option ..
Make a new folder in memory card’s video folder and put all these mp4 files in it….
You will be amazed about the audio / video quality of mp4 file…. Much better and louder than 3gp….

Hi All,
I brought this phone in April-06. Its really good phone as compared to Nokia.Of course, it has some disadvantages but still its good. I have 2 queries:
1.Can anybody tell me from where can I get ALL the short codes like for call recording we use: #*22671#?
2. I have .jpg/.3gpp files in may mail box, when I accessed these file using GPRS, I was not able to open, it says: unsupported context data. How can I resolve this problem.? anybody faced such type of problem?

To TBS: Sorry for the delay. Of course you can use the software. It's freeware. I don't know how to install it, so ask someone who is more familiar with it. And be aware that you will lose warranty if you install modified software so make a backup of an original one.

Ok one, I found my answer. If one folds it under attitudes telephone attitudes USB, not when modem places but on memory card.

To Qasim: The default password is eight digit number "00000000". If X700 does not accept this password then it means that someone has changed the default password!
