FOR MP3 RINGTONES check my post written at 2007-07-31 12:20.
To correctly set the internet (gprs) settings can be really hard, but not impossible. Just ask your provider for your settings, APN, IPs, gateways etc.. and try it!

Hi everyone! I wonder if anyone has the same problem - I can't use the internet on my Sharp 902sh. All the time I get the message 'Internet service is not enabled'. I have the settings for both my operator (phone is unlocked) and for Vodafone, my internet service is enabled, but it simply won't work. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I'm wondering if I should upgrade from a Motorola V360 to this Sharp 902SH??? I see people can't use mp3's as ringtones and stuff... Is it really worth it? I can pick it up for a bargain now(or so I thought)but now I don't know anymore! HEEELP MEEE!!! Plz E-mail to 27723765595@vodamail.co.za as I do not have internet myself. I'm bumming off a friend here, but I'm using the E-mail on my V360...Thanx ppl!

I see that other people have been having my same problem but I don't see any answers so I'll ask again:
my 902 turns on, asks for the pin, says initialising, then goes back and asks for the pin again.Vodafone says to bring it in for upgrading but that will take 2 months to get the phone back!!does anyone know if and/or how I can do this myself at home???I really like this phone and would hate to buy a different one..Thanks!!

So here is how to set a REAL MP3 to ringtone on your 902.
First of all, u need a card reader and a working wap (or internet) connection in your 902.
First thing u have to do is to download a DRM (copyrighted) mp3.. you can buy some on the internet but try this one (this is a test drm mp3):

Enter this URL into your phone, it will ask you to download the file called TEST.dm or TEST.mp3. Save it to Phone memory (this time, saving to memory card is not supported, you cannot transfer copyrighted materials.)
After saving it, you will see a new item under My Items \ Sounds & Ringtones, labeled 'Test', with a picture of a key. So go there and press Options and you will see a new menu 'Set as Ringtone'. Do it:)
So you have a phone now with an mp3-ringtone.. but how about using your own mp3's as mp3 ringtones?
RENAME the 'TEST' (Options \ Rename) and select a different name, for example 'DRM'.
Transfer your own mp3 (for example 'STING') to the phone memory (use Audacity or similar programs to cut mp3s to the lenght and size you want).
RENAME the 'STING' to 'TEST' and that's it.:)
Important.. 902 won't like MP3 with VBR.. I prefer 128k-192k files.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR FAVORITE MP3 AS RINGTONE ON YOUR SHARP 902
First of all you have to convert your mp3 into wav, there are many free tools, you might already have one :)
when you convert to .wav, set:
Bit As Source, FREQ: 24000Hz and 1 Channel (Mono)
conversion takes seconds.
second, launch Yamaha's WSD (Wave Sound Decorator) (you can download it for free here: http://smaf-yamaha.com/tools/license.php?ocid=wsd110 (just fill in the fields and click “agree” button)
open the wav you just converted with WSD
go to EDIT -> Sample Type -> and uncheck both boxes (Resampling Freq and Mono Conversion) since you did these 2 in DB, its uneccesary.
Select MA-5 in the upper left drop down menu, now I have noticed that MA-5 in techno makes it a bit too loud, so you should experiment.
after you select the part of the file you wish to play on the phone, go to Edit -> Trimming. this will delete the rest.
Make sure your file is UNDER 300kb (you can tell the size of the remaining file after trimming by looking at the bottom right part of the program, in the info bar).
save as .mmf
now, in your Sharp transfer utility (or whatever its called) simply click on the 'Melodies' tab, click browse and find wherever you saved it. select it and click upload to phone. to set this as a ringtone, go to your phones menu , My Items -> Sounds & Ringtones (when you upload through your utility, it automatically puts it there).
It seems quite complicated in the beginning but when you get used to it, you'll make it in matter of some minutes!
TIP: cut your favorite part from the mp3 before you perform theabove actions, you'll gain time ;)

yes it is a nice phone only to see video in tv and taking photos all vodafones password is 9999.

I have problem with my 902. there is a password when i'm recieving a file from the bluetooth. I don't know even the default pass. I've lost the manual Anybody have an Idea what to do?
