Adul Al Salami Kebab, 21 Mar 2020no updates is bad but that does not mean its the worst phon... moreThe phone is still usable buuut with outdated chipset (MTK6737V not 6750T, I've it), I guarantee it'll destroy your day. Just imagine you are using 2014 phone in 2020.
Also Sharp's software can be buggy. Just want to point out.

Don't ever buy Sharp Brand Phone. They do not provide updates and no after sale service. The phone is dead phone without any updates

I think it's about reliability and security. Sharp will release an Android 7 phone because that version has had more time to mature and receive security fixes, and back-patches from Android 8.
You can have the latest with all the bugs and security holes, or you can have the previous version with better stability and security. Take your pick.
