Anonymous, 26 Mar 2025It was a mistake for Sharp to have shared their technology ... moreHundreds of years ago, the West learned technology from China and carried it forward. The Chinese have no complaints. Now, China is being treated as a thief by you. Where did Sharp's technology come from? If you dig deeper, you will find that Japan has also "stolen" a lot of technology.

Koreans, not limited to Chinese, are good in taking things over after stealing technology from others.
Japanese also was too proud of themselves, and forgot to do proper research on global market.

There is no macro mode for the camera & it has trouble focusing for close-ups (auto or manual mode).
Phone is still on Oct 1st 2024 Android security update.
This is about 2 months delay from the quarterly updates from Sharp.

Other displays technology's hurt my eyes, colors are like painted and after short time feeling become uncomfortable to read text's.. size of display doesn't help, paradoxically 4.5 lcd witch I currently using is better than 6+ amoled.. and love compact form against todays brick trend phones without 3.5mm and SD card with ugly cameras "island" .. every device is looking almost the same, design and spec's have marginal difference.

Their old culture (called "jeong" or something like that) encourages to be liars as long as they can get what they want.
Perhaps their culture has improved, but it is VERY risk to do business with them.
I am not trying to discriminate them; however, just stating about known fact.

F no!
Sharp should just get involved in Open Source development just as 1+ did.
Once you join sam-scam, you will end up with being taken over everything.
You do joint-venture with sam-scam only if you already lost interest in your company and want to sell everything to them.

I have this phone, purchased it from Japan, I have the sim free version (SH M28), sim locked version is the SH 51E , I wanted this phone since it came out, best thing is the camera and the option to support esim, physical sim and microsdxc at a medium size phone.

Furthermore, looks like it will be priced around 600usd in indonesia, which is similar to Iqoo 13. If R9 cameras aren't significantly better than the Iqoo's, then it's definitely a skip.

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2024It looks good in spec, but is it really?
You will have to ... moreOfcourse Sharp will have to either:
1. setup their own Service Centers at least in major Tier 1 cities, with mail-in option, ELSE
2. partner with one of the "multi-brand" Service Centers that newer Chinese brands have resorted to with training & stuff. Anyways they don't do actual "repairs" now do they? At least Samsung does not, other than board replace & software.
SOFTWARE:
Sharp is lacking in this department for now, but I think Sony & Motorola are doing OK with their near-stock Android with few extra features where necessary. What I think is Sharp should do a licensing deal with a bigger player for their apps & UI to be included here, for example Samsung which has very mature app catalog, but looking at Japanese history of non-reliance on external parties for Software, this seems like a dream only. I would love to have Sharp hardware with OneUI & Samsung apps.
