I think GSMARENA doesn't put enough emphasis on Japanese phones. After all they ARE GSM cell phones, and it doesn't matter if they are available to everyone or not.
I sometimes wonder what the purpose of this site is. To target customers for Nokia, SE and Samsung, or to give out information about GSM/3G phones.
If more people would get to know Japanese technology and actually WANT it, then we would stand a chance of actually GETTING IT.

Ok guys-maybe we may wish to use some objectivity here. The fact of the matter is that japanese phone manufacturers often release the same phone in Japanese edition before opting or not for the export market. So yes, you sometimes find japanese phones sold worldwide but the reality is that the represent only a mere fraction of what the japanese phone manufacturing industry has to offer. I have tried so many times to walk into a phone store in Japan to beg for a GSM version of japanese mobile only to hear that the phone is meant for the japanese market only. Any japanese phone which sells worldwide is usually a version which comes with about half the technology of what the same phone has to offer on the japanese market. And that is so for a number of reasons-the primary reason being that japanese network and mobile technology is a lot more advanced than that of the rest of the world.

923SH is ONLY for Japan! Do you live in Japan?!
I'm in Tokyo right now and according to my source of information, 923SH is not planned for export!
As compared to the Japanese version, the SX862 from Vodafone do not have the map function; where as the Japanese version by SoftBank do come with GPS!
