This was my introduction into mobile phones! The main 'fault' I found with it was the keypad lock button. I found it out to my cost on a holiday to Turkey, when the button was accidentally pushed, and began connecting with everything in my phonebook and Virgin Bites. I have nothing against the phone and still have it today, albeit as an emergency back-up. Had there been a two-button fail-safe I would still be using it as my phone of choice for a no-frills, does what it says in the book(and well), reliable means of communication

I've bought 2 of these now, one on Virgin and one on Vodaphone. They're great little phones, don't do much else! But if you just want to make calls and text then they're spot on! Good reception all the time on both, battery lasts about 3-4days, maybe charge it up at the end of the day if ive made more than 30mins of calls, but really thats alot for me. If all you want is a simple phone then these are recommended! Easy to navigate the menu, loudspeaker can be activated when making a call just by pressing the top left button twice, and is clear and plenty loud enough. Very basic nowadays but it does what its designed to do! They sell for around £5 on ebay, for that price i just keep one in the car for emergencies. 'Thumbs Up!'

my girlfriend has been using the A60 for 3 years now and it still works perfectly, the keys are wearing a bit, battery life is less but still good! it just seems indestructible this one. i think the ringtones are annoying and the display is a bit dull but that doesn't matter because she just needs it for calling and the occasional sms.

to my little sister to play games on when she gave it her back it said that the phone was barred and she can only make SOS calls.
Anyone got any ideas how i can unlock the phone without buying a data cable as you all know u may aswell buy a new phone if you got to buy a data cable. many thanks shan.

Hi, My name's Craig, I work for Vodafone.
I was just reading through some of the comments about this phone and was surprised to see many negative comments. This phone is in fact - for a basic phone - a very good one. I personally had this phone a few years back and never had any complaints. A friend of mine also had this phone and had the saem opinion. None of the bad points left by other people have I had and I would recomment this phone to anyone who wants a nice, bright, simple, easy-to-use phone.

It's not a bad basic phone. I got it when I was working in London last year. I took it back with me to the States, and it works just fine with Cingular Wireless.

Actually, it's not worth it for older people either. The buttons on the phone extrude too much, and keep getting pressed at random while in a bag or pocket. Combine this with an imbecilic one-button locking mechanism (couldn't they have used two buttons for locking, like Nokia?), and you have a phone that keeps unlocking itself when it shouldn't, and while you don't know.
It's not even good as an ultra-basic cellphone for talking only. With rubbish such as the A60, it's no wonder Siemens had to sell off their mobile division.

no downloadable games and stupid pre-installed ones, no java application, no infrared, no bluetooth, no calendar, no organizer, no dymanic vibration (C35i had a very nice duck one and C55 had many vibration styles)....
so if i need to give it a name, i would call it the NO Phone.
But it has a use still... u can give it as a gift to ur 70 years old grandmom ;)

Quite probably the worst phone I've had the misfortune of owning, ever..
I bought this one 1.5 year ago as a -relatively- cheap, throwaway phone for use during my national service, because I had been satisfied with older Siemens models (especially M35i). Unfortunately, the Siemens A60 proved itself to be a piece of garbage, even for its low-end positioning. This phone turned me off Siemens mobiles for ever!
Problems..
--Flimsy construction, creaking plastics, gets scratched all too easily
--Does not have automatic keylock feature. Additionally, the manual keylock itself is useless, as it is stupidly bound to a single button (#), meaning that the phone will regularly unlock itself while touching your keys, or some coin in your pocket.
--The keys (ALL the keys, including "call") have a lousy feel, and the tendency to easily get pressed while the phone is in your pocket. This might lead to unwanted calls and charges quite often.
--It has no archive. Seriously. You open up the "calls" list to check when you made a previous call, or sent a past sms, and you're surprised to see.. it doesn't keep records for anything outgoing!
--Lousy battery uptime. Drains within 2 days of sparse use.
--No calendar!!
--Build quality is so bad that a 1.5 year old device looks like it's been beat worse than my 4 year old M35i (and 5 year old Nokia!).
Need I continue? This a phone to be avoided -- even if someone gives you one for free, pay a couple of euros more to buy a *real* cellphone, and send this one to the trash, where it belongs.

I am using this phone for 2 months. In the start I found this fone good, but after some time I really got bored of it. It doen't have no MMS. Its colours are also very dull and yellowish. One cannot compare it with any other colour fone. :(
