some readers are moronic, are you really gonna hold onto a handset for two fucking hours when watching a movie? that has to be the most useless feature ever to put in a phone, mp3 player is practical however...
i can't wait to see the s55 come out in australia, its a definate phone I WANT, i was contemplating getting the samsung t100, but its too expensive for what it is.
another thing is (comparing this phone to a 7650) in practicality, say the camera component fucks up, with the 7650, you would have to take the whole handset back to the repairers, its a practical idea to have a seperate camera, so if that camera does fuckup, you at least still have a handset you can use
remember, its a phone, not a portable cinema :)

Siemens S55 compared to SonyEricsson T300
Display: S55:256 colours T300:256 colours
Polyphonic melodies: S55:16 T300:24
Both phones have MMS,GPRS,Vibration and optinal camera.
T300 has 300h standby and S55 260h.
T300 is a better phone for less money!!

1 word: WOW!
This device is a big pain in the ass for Nokia, to say the least.
1 con: 256 color screen. But hey, compared with all the other features you get and the price, it's the best mobile phone currently available!!!

There's some data that's incorrect:
dimensions are:101 x 42 x 18 mm;
it doesn't have ringtone composer
it has polyphonic melodies (16)

I got my S55 on Christmas, and I can say it´s the best Siemens I´ve ever seen.
Of course 256 colours are not state-of-the-art, but Siemens was always a little backward. Besides, it´s one of the first Java enabled Phones that has external links, like BT and IR.
I think it´s the best mobile on the market, because it´s just the best compromise (size, features, design, usability)!

the s55 screen is as bad as sonyericsson's t68 and about the features are almost the same as t68's basically it's a t68 made by siemens!the only difference is thatg t68 software is much more stable than s55 which has many stability problems siemens is't what it used to be anymore!read:www.mobile.burn.com and www.infosync.no the reviews!

Why make so much fuss about S55's only 256 colours? We're talking about functionality, quality and value for money here! I am not a German, but please rest assured, German quality is second to none if you will. Prove me wrong!

I bought this little chap today, and I can say that I'm very impressed, looks nice, feels nice and can do pretty much anything, and now it's happily talking to my Ipaq syncing the address books... Magic. ;0)
