Ok i now know how to upgrade the firmware and mine is now on version 0234000417040000
So i am going to give instructions on how to do this first see my post on getting the firmware from club siemens in the below post
the firmware can be got from this web site
    http://www.siemensmania.cz/ under the firmware link
    username xlaface
    password xlaface
ok install the siemens download tool version 1.26 find out what com port the usb cable is set to
    so for example com 3
change the software (siemens download 1.26)
to the correct com port, set the baud rate to 460800, and then change the uart to 1 leave the project at 50874-7_ram 16bits(electra electra V2)then select the download type to software (select a language if required under package)
select the 0234000417040000.cla file as the file turn phone off and when you press start plug the phone in to the datacable and the update will commence. wait 10-15 minutes and the phone will be updated it may take a few minutes to turn on after the update and if it wont remove battery and try again.
If you cant follow these instructions dont try and update your phone.
Firmware seems to solve all problems and is a lot faster and pictures look better, no issues with texting lovely and fast now

Well I tried to install the drivers and software but the computer did not recognies the camera. I tried again and reinstalled everything and it worked fine (just insert the CD and tell it to reinstall as this will be one of the options). Photos aren't too bad but I need some clear day ones to look at. It simple terms, it works for me!

What can I say, this phone is horrible. Looks-wise (I have the polar white version) it's a winner, but features-wise it sucks.

The main problem for me is the freezing. The screen goes blank every time I use it and I have to remove the battery or hold the off key for ages to get it to respond.

The camera is another problem; for a 1.3mpx camera, it produces poor quality images compared with my old Sony Ericsson T630 VGA camera. The flash needs to be turned on *every time* you want to take a picture, so this is no good for taking to any event where your chosen subject isn't standing very still - the zoom keys don't work (possibly a firmware issue, but Carphone Warehouse shouldn't sell phones which need this kind of tweaking). Night mode *sucks*. When I (eventually, and with difficulty) got the photos on my PC I was most dissapointed.
You can't swivel the screen backwards to take a picture of yourself; nor can you access the camera by not swivelling, which is annoying.

The screen is just nasty. Siemens should have either put a better screen in this phone, or reduced the text size, because you have to scroll down even in short sms due to the huge text size. The menu is black and white (apart from the selected item, which is in colour), very pixellated and not at all pleasing to the eye. It's badly laid out too.

Why this phone doesn't have Bluetooth when it takes such large pictures is beyond me- when sending more than one file you have to turn irda to recieve every single time which is irritating.

I only got this phone yesterday; and I'm taking it back to the shop tomorrow (I'd take it back today if I wasn't at work!)

If you're considering buying this phone, don't, it is barely usable at times. Do what I'm doing and get a D500 for about £60 more and save yourself the hassle of this good-looking, but technically very poor phone.

I have just got my phone and am pretty pleased with it. I agree about the quality of the screen but I suspect the pix will be great when I get them onto my laptop. I was not impressed with the hands free. It could use a larger speaker but other than that it is fine so far. I haven't connected it yet to the laptop so cannot comment as to connectivity and downloading of the pix.

Software is very unstable. Had no end of problems using the alarm and it not accepting the OFF command. Camera is not very good. A bad buy.

I dont see what you are all complaining about?

I have had no problems at all with it, It connects every time to my PC with very little effort* and it is a lot faster then my old sony ericsson. I have dropped it (accidnently of course) many many times, even when it has been open and it still works like the day i bought it.

As for the guy who said the pictures look bad. it is due to the cost cuts on the screen. Once the picture is put on a PC it looks almost as good as my 4 MegaPixel Digicam. it is the fault of the screen not the camera.

I do agree that it could use a bluetooth connection and a better screen. But other then these small shortcomings its a sound phone.

What other phones can give such superior visual design coupled with an excellent camera for less the £80?

                * I want to point out that although i am a computer programmer it didnt take require indepth knowledge to connect this phone to my PC.

i rung up virgin mobile as i had broke my samsung E700 by mistake. They offered me the siemens sf65 as a replacement which i took. When i got the phone i was willing to give it another go. After just 2 weeks the phone has casued me an unbelievable amount of trouble. After about a month, it rejected my sim card about 5 times a day and the phone is designed so it is a nightmare to get the battery out so you sort out you sim card. after a month and 1 week i could not take this rediculous phone no more, i had to buy my self another fone which is a samsung e800 which is absoultly fantastic compared with the siemans

This "camera phone" is great - unless you actually want to get the photos OFF the phone and ONTO a PC, as promised in all the advertising. In my experience, (and my boyfriend has the same phone), it provides hour after hour of frustration, buying of two different DCA-510 cables, buying an IrDA USB adapter, downloading updated drivers for both the data cables and the Mobile phone manager, trying on four different PCs and the two phones and guess what - nothing works. We have two phones full of photos and no way of getting them off. The siemens website is absolutely useless and I am wishing I had bought the Motorola (as another person has said on this site). Come on, Siemens/BenQ - do something about this. You advertise all the features, ask a hefty price tag and have not delivered on what was promised. I would not recommend this phone to anyone who wants to actually use the photos it takes. VERY FREAKIN' FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING. Other than that, it looks pretty and the phone works, but I could have got this funtionality from a plethora of other phones for a fraction of the price.

fing the usb file .sys by browsing the CD and looking for extras then locatijg the correct file

For the firmware, maybe if you download it from siemens mania as shown on first page then use an archiver (such as winace) to compress the file into a different format?

                            Worth a try anyway!!

I got this phone about a month ago and im seriously thinking of takin it back! I can not get the USB thingy to connect to my pc, ive tried loads of time. I cant believe that you cant download polyphonic ringtones to it. The camera's ok but nothing to write home about. I have a problem hearing people when recieving or making calls. The screen goes white sometimes and freezes. All in all im not happy and wouldnt reccomend buying this phone.

I could not connect my SF 65 with PC using USB connection.. I tried all the ways discussed in this forum, but still the mobile phone manager could not detect the phone. The driver is working as I couldnt see the 'Siemens ...' in the device manager when the cable is connected.. Without the mobile phone manager software detecting the phone, how can I transfer files from & to the phone. Somebody please help me - Sania
