averhielle - not only it's one of the very first slider phones out there, but it's also the first phone to use three color (not real full-color, though) LCD display. Siemens engineers went for interesting approach - combining three colour STN LCD layers (dark blue, red, green) into one display panel allowed phone interface to show notifications and interface elements in different colours.

Siemens is not producing them any longer and knock-offs are not compatible. Device is a bit sophisticated, before it accepts it, it measures impedancy. If not within parameters, no go. Anyway, if you find it, please, let us know where.
              Regards.

I just bought this rare retro phone in Ebay auction. I'll find compatible replacement battery to be replaced, because, of course, original one holds 15minutes, but aside that it's stll in perfect condition.

I must say I admire three-colour screen - manufacturer also uses dithering techics to make it look like it has more colors. Of course, at the time of launch (1999), there was no compact pure white LEDs availavble, so screen have strange greenish backlight.

Slider formfactor - radical innovation at the time, and, if i'm not mistaken, this was first phone to implement it - still works. And overall design of this phone is amazing - i'm tired of all flat and similar phones novadays (I understand that phones are designed around large touchscreens, and there is little room for imagination, but still..).

SL10 have full function phonebook with multiple numbers for each name, VIP phonebook with different call tone and red incoming call background. No EMS though.

So - overall this is amazing phone for it's time - innovative breakthrough - first slider, one of two first phones to use three-color LCD, one of first phones with IrDa PC sync, very good design, sharging cradle as standart.

This phone was by far my favorite for years. It looked really good,
and it worked very well. It was pretty much the most advanced phone
you could get at the time. The sliding mechaniam was a new thing,
and the screen was nice and clear, and it had a color screen which is
what made me get it. But I will now stick with my iPhone, can't complain
as it is a good phone!

ben, 25 Oct 2006I had this phone when it first come out in 99 and loved it.... more;sighs;, another one stuck in the past, future and present phones are lightyears ahead of this piece of ancient tech. Move on buddy, times change and you need to adapt. Having said that, for a phone that's 10 years old this would have seemed uber back then and much more advanced than anything else with the exception of the communicator. The SL45/i, SL55, S45 and SX1s were the last great Siemens phones. The German prowess has disappeared. Normally German makes of anything are usually more advanced technologically of any other nation bar Japan, especially their cars, a pity then that Siemens stopped making cellphones.

OMG this phone was such a advanced phone of the time, by the time i had this phone I must have gone through a number of phones such as the nokia's and the motorola's. This was good. I remember selling it to some guy in college saying it was one of the most advanced colour phones around and sold it for a large sum.

This phone is legendary! It is the FIRST SLIDER PHONE EVER!! Too bad only few people know about this. Plus, it has color screen which was advanced compared to other competitors like Nokia and Motorola, who at that time still used monochrome screen (traditional green background with black pixel text)
