I can only agree with sushi-x (see below). I have tried the SL45 for a couple of weeks and yes the MP3-player is great and yes it has great quality sound, but the rest of the phone ain't that great. You can't get many greater phones (even Siemens) that are cheaper.
A friend of mine have also bought the phone, emitting now after a months or so that he only bought it because of MP3-player. He has now decided to sell it, replacing it with a S40.

Thank goodness! I thought I was the only one with problem on this phone turning off by itself! My bettery would even drain by itself when I actually just charge it! Can anybody tell me why this happens? and do you guys know any great site where we could download ringtones or operator logos & other support site?

My opinion on SL45 in light of S40:
Generally it has some userfriendliness problems:
- Bad mapping between menuitems and button alignment (a problem with Siemens phones in genreal).
- Bad indication of systemvisibility.
- Confusion and mixup of users mental model of the system
- Too many keys and too little space
- Monochrom display. The S40 has the advantages with its 4 colour grayscale which allows it to bring forward the information that is most important at hand.
- High resolution display. Insted af makinging slightly smaller font allowing for great view they have enlarged the font making it look like earlier phones.
Other issues:
- Plastic cover vs. S40 alu-cover
... but of course it has some nice features and accessories like mp3player and stylish earphones, however these things do not make up for the problems stated above.
Feel free to comment on my opinions!!!

Great phone, I love it but... What's with all the bugs. I have a recent software version (v.17) hawever I still get multimedia card errors, the phone switches itself off and the battery meter doesn't always work properly. How much longer until siemens get a working software version available.
Even with these problems though, it's still the best phone on the market at the moment.

Very very good phone. But don't you think that its battey is a little weak? Take for example the newest Ericsson T68 : with the standard battery - 300h Standby ;with high capacity battery - 29 days standby...

I sincerely am very pleased with this phone despite its few bugs, definitely a pivotal product for Siemens to compete with the big boys. Some info: To change the Operator Logo for the SL45, firstly download the bitmap file (or files) you want to use into the bitmap folder on the phone from your PC using the transfer software provided on CD with the SL45. Then go into the Card Explorer program on the phone and then into the bitmap folder. There you click on options, and choose "load bitmap". If the bitmap is the right format (not all are) it will have a confirmation message: click back out to the standby screen and you'll see your new logo. Annoying really that the manual nor the help files in the phone tell you this process!! If you'd like to know more about this phone or download a few operator logos made by me, check out my extensive review of the SL45 at: http://prophecy.epinions.com/content_14941982340, http://prophecy.epinions.com/content_14941982340

A fantastic phone, does everything I want and then some - hell you can even make phonecalls with it!! This phone is destined to make Siemens a MAJOR player in the mobile phone market and will surely give Nokia the kick it needs, as it's got a bit complacent recently....

Fantastic phone although the software is somewhat buggy. I have had the phone for 2 days now and it has turned itself off four times whilst navigating the menus. The most annoying part is that it only writes setting to NVRAM when you switch off with the power key, so if it crashes and turns itself off you lose all your profiles etc. Anyone else had similar problems?
