I got my C905 pretty much as soon as it came out and so did my boyfriend. We both have been pretty happy with SE phones up until this point with our currently handset. His handset stuffed up within the first 14 days of getting it (the speaker stopped working and he was unable to hear anyone unless he had it on loudspeaker). Thankgoodness it happened in the first 2 weeks as they replace it for you straight away. Since then, the piece underneath my camera has been damaged and constantly falls inside my handset. I have to say it has been the worst Sony Ericsson handset so far.

I've had my C905 for about three weeks now as an upgrade on my contract. I previously had a W910, W880 and W810. You could say I like my Sony Ericsson phones!
So far... I think the camera quality is excellent with some really neat features. Face recognition, red eye removal and so are all welcome features that work well.
I haven't tried using the GPS yet, but from feedback from a friend it works reasonably well, however it doesn't really replace a full sat nav unit, plus with the GPRS charges it may be something only used as a gammic on my phone for me rather than a serious use feature.
I really like how the phone has wifi - using it has been very easy so far. It picks up networks fairly well and connects pretty quickly, too. The browser is also improved over previous SE phones I have used - I like the implimentation of the virtual mouse in the browser.
So far the only downside I can see is that the battery isn't great, but I can still generally get three or so days of average use from it which isn't too bad.
My friend who has one has had it since it was first released and has had an issue with the earpiece but otherwise has had no issues. Since mine is a bit newer it should be from a newer batch so hopefully I should be safe from any such issues.
I'm very happy with it and I'm quite surprised at some of the negative feedback that's been left. I think people need to remember if you get a phone just after launch it is more likely to have problems, whereas if you wait a little while then updates solve many of these issues.

How do you know if you have got a 'second generation' one of these then? I mean, if i was new to them, and got one, is there any code number or anything that would indicate its got an up-graded d/key pad?

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2009this phone is good... just the gps keeps taking all my cred... moreas far as im aware the GPS connects your phone to the internet to download your maps, so each time you connect you find yourself occurring GPRS charges best getting some type of web bolt on.

the phone looks great, quality of photos and videos are great, feels great. But they all have 1 problem, the ear speaker always breaksdown. even if you never drop the phone at some point, you wont be able to hear people talking to you. I am a wholesaler and i bought one for me, first phone that stops working with no damage whatsoever

I have a sony ericsson xperia for 2 months, didn't really like the touch screen interface because my hand is always sweaty... I have this phone (C905) for almost 7 months and I'm still in love with it. I won't be replacing this phone even if you offer me an iphone. This is by far the best phone I ever had. Although I have to admit that the battery life of this phone is weak and the only way to counterfeit this problem is to buy a new back-up battery. sony ericsson phone's when it comes to battery life is really weak and it can only sustain a day or two for hard core usage (especially when your using the camera and the music). :3

my first time to buy sony. and in less than a month the upper keypads was not working well. had to return it to the shop for a warranty service in dubai. after 2 weeks they said no spareparts available, to top it all they deformed the back portion of my mobile. defininitely their service center tecnicians was not skilled. up to this date since dec those people in CELLUCOM are just giving me talk and promises regarding this issue. buttom line is c905 keypads are not durable, and above all, CELLUCOM and its service warranty is below the customer service standard. so think twice before buying a mobile in CELLUCOM. I'LL GO BACK TO NOKIA...

Oh, one other thing...the interface is slow, the speed of the CPU must be horrid - my w880i was much better. and the 'help' that comes within the interface gets in the way of doing things quickly, like the predictive text in messaging constantly suggests words and forces me to select something when i shouldnt have to.
going back to nokia.
