Anonymous, 01 Oct 2008i'm a SE fan but i have to say SE k850 and C902 where a fai... morewell from what i have had from my hands- on, the only phone that i want more than this one is the X1, for obvious reasons.

As for availability- start looking in shops from about 15/10/08. if it isn't in then, it will only be a couple of weeks until it is.

even if this phone is thick, the rest of it's dimensions make this a nice and small phone that fits easily in your hand, and the image quality is better than what the other 8mp camera phones are showing atm.

one other feature this camera has that the ither 8mp ines don't have is auto-contrast

hmph. I really like this phone, but it needs to be thinner. LG are saying less than 13.8mm.

Dave, 30 Sep 2008@Nick, I appreciate the Sony Ericsson has been playing catc... moresee, when i go out to buy a replacement, i normally buy a phone which has more features than the previous, but this would never fit the bill would it.

and the n95 isnt a failing phone! apart from branded handsets running on crap firmware, nobody has any problems!

Hope this phone doesn't fail like the K850i and C902 have before it. Both these handsets are still being withdrawn from sale by certain networks from time to time due to their persistent problems (K850i even after 12 months since release).

@Nick, I appreciate the Sony Ericsson has been playing catchup to Nokia on a number of features but the build quality of the N95 appears to be very low in my experiences.

This looks like a very good replacement for those fed up with a failing N95 even if it only improves on the camera.

It could be argued that this superbly crafted device is the true successor to the outstanding K800i. It is hoped that the success of the C905 will demonstrate that Sony Ericsson continues to produce quality products as the industry moves towards ever more advanced all-round communications devices.

Just got my hands on one in Australia.

It is a brilliant little phone. Has 2 softkeys and a shirtcut button where the traditional back key is.

The camera quality is great, and it has a bright(not Xenon) flash. I tested the flash through discharge. The video camera on it is also crisp, but has just a little bit of a stutter when there is a lot of backround movement.

As a camera-phone, expect great quality pictures- the same quality you would expect out of a standalone camera with cybershot.

I also found it to be quite fast when responding to commands and shortcuts. I didn't get any more time to play with much more. The phone also fits quite nicely in the hand, and i wasn't allowed to test it in my pocket. lol

It runs on Java OS as well

what else is there? well from my little hands-on time with it, the only thing that would stop me from leaping into a store with my bank card on the day of it's release is the fact that the X1 is looming around the corner. In fact- the X1 is now available in the U.K

But then again- a high quality camera phone is not what i am personally looking for, but given that- i would recommend it to anyone who is interested in getting a high quality camera phone.
