Ericsson's HyC and Telecinco launch Formula One live via mobile TV in Spain
          July 15, 2008, 13:00 (CET)

Spanish fans of Formula One can watch this season's races live on their handsets thanks to HyC - part of the Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) group - in partnership with Boomerang TV and Spanish broadcast network Telecinco. The mobile TV service was launched in May.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson's HyC supplies an end-to-end, scalable service including encoding, editing and transmission, which enables Boomerang TV and Telecinco to stream the Formula One races to mobile subscribers via live or scheduled repeat broadcast. HyC also provides related systems integration services.

Live streaming to the consumer is a key aspect of the agreement. Viewers can enjoy personalized coverage and choose between live streaming and downloading selected moments of the races which are recorded, archived, managed and published automatically in real time as part of the service.

Streamed via the first off-portal in Spain, the service will run through the Formula One season, which ends in early November.

Manuel Villanueva, Content general manager at Telecinco, says: "Consumer demand for live mobile TV is increasing in line with technology improvements. Through this agreement with Ericsson's HyC, we can offer our customers a richer communications experience though a personalized and interactive service."

Ingemar Naeve, President, Ericsson Iberia, says: "This agreement to launch Formula One on mobile TV marks an important step for Ericsson. It reaffirms our position as a key player in the multimedia arena, supported by strong systems integration capabilities. It also confirms our ability to enable dynamic content and provide end-to-end solutions, supported by our recent acquisitions such as HyC."

when will this be out in o2/ voda UK?

here in uk, se is more popular than nokia because we know what we are buying. In other countries they have this "loyalty" to a brand and they arent open minded enough to try other brands.

Gud news guys. Apparently se decide to alter the video recording size of this baby to vga. Someone posted the video taken by this c905, still in beta though, but close to 30fps.

nokia released the n95 2 years ago

look how feature filled it was 2 years ago.

its totally unfair to criticize it because it is a miracle how nokia managed to cram so many features into a phone as it is.

while the n95 was released, SE were stuck on the k800.

we cant argue that Nseries offer the most in a phone out of any other company.

for N95 you're going to say
                        Battery and xenon flash

for N82 you're going to say...
                        well i dnt know really.

the n82 doesnt actually lack anything.

excuses excuses. SE lack a feature, then there are loads of reasons why you lot act as if you dont care. unless you complain sony ericsson will keep doing it.

i just think a cameraphone, i.e a phone which is orientated around the camera should not be half complete. because of the QVGA video, this phone cannot be a good enough substitute for a real digital camera, where as the nokia n82 could.

and dani, i dont think having Java is unique, considering about 95% of phones run on java. also symbian is totally backwards compatible with every java application.

                          excuses...

nice and unique cellphone, i like to buy that phone. probably the screen of that phone is not bright. if i adjust the brightness adjustment from bright to cool dark, i know the screen is cool to my sensitive eyes. i look forward for that.

In my country, Indonesia, there's a local branded phone called VirtuV. The VirtuV F8 is one their phones. That phone is equipped with 8 MP Cam (i don't know whether it's an interpolation or not, and neither i know what's the lens' name) with CCD Censor, 5x Digital Zoom, and also auto focus (with macro and scenery mode). That phone has flash (and again, i don't know is that Xenon or just only LED Flash, but it looks like Xenon) with red-eye reduction. F8 also can record VGA video with 30fps. F8 has TVOut, too. Well, C905 has so many competitors. F8 and Samsung Primera...
