hi, just bought this phone some days back,
i also have a Nokia 3230, but wanted a cheaper phone due to thefts in my city, anyways, I had some choices like Motorola C168, Sony Ercisson J230i, Samsung X210, Motorola W220.
Then in another Phone Review "Sandynator" guided me to this one, and iam glad, thanx Sandynator for guiding.
It has great FM Quality, Sound Quality, Reception is good, and display is nice :)
Just one problem, cant connect to Computer (or can we ???), still thinking of trying to find its Data Cable since there must be some way to transfer stuff on it ... otherwise how is the software changed !!!
It would be easier to transfer tones, since GPRS has many dependencies. even though i have tried GPRS also and that is also great :)

Pls tell me how to compose the ringtones and if any body having latest ringtons in composed manner pls send me. And also want to know how to save the numbers in the phone memory??

Anybody knows howw can I put more themes on my j230i? I mean , i know how, by GPRS, but wwhat extension I have to look up? Becouse this fone not suport .jar , .sis ...etc...
So what extension is avaaible for the j230i `s themes? Please , i realy need to know

Hi all, am using this mobile for past 4 months. FM is great.
The only problem am facing is msgs in ph memory are deleted when the battery is removed.
For better battery life
Reduce the display brightness,
turn off Cell information.
Avoid using vibration as possible.
Worth for the money.

U R phone has older Software version. Visit the SE Service centre & change The Software & then see the difference.
I had faced few prob somtimes like Restarting & poor Microphone sound(sometimes other people were not able to hear me).
These probs r corrected After updating the software. I have updated the software about 3-4 mnths back & since then not faced a single prob.radio Sound increased a lot thru loudspeaker.

I will summarize my review as:
Advantages:
*Good radio through headset
*Bright screen
*Design O.K
Disadvantages:
*Worse reception quality
*Very litlle memory
*Bad sound quality of ringtones
*Messages cannot be saved
*Bad speakerphone function
*Poor battery life
*No infrared or bluetooth
*Restarts automatically
*Keypad not friendly
*GPRS very slow
This phone is not reliable.Please keep this phone away.I am going to sell it. Regards

I bought this phone 4 months ago.I was very excited at first but later i was so disappointed because this phone is playing some tricks now.It often automatically restarts.Saved messages in the phone are deleted when SIM card is inserted after removing.Its battery life is maximum 1.5 days with normal usage.Its radio has very low volume when played through speakers.Its memory is too low.Above all its great disadvantage is that neither my voice is heard clearly to other person calling to me nor i can listen that person's voice clearly and sometimes I cannot even listen any voice of the person calling to me.I hope this review helps you.

The battery is weak & last for less than 2 days only. The screen always flashes after you end a call. Need to press the cancel key many times to stop the flashes. Sometimes the screen just goes blank.

bt beware itz nt for d nokia addicts who r too obselate to use this cell .
go 4 it if u hv a an ericson inclination .

Its a Great FM phone for cheap price.
Few Qns/Thoughts:
1. How can I configure the phone to display time in idle mode(screen saver). Does this phone support it. Does the latest software update has this or is Sony Ericcson planning for it. This is a badly needed feature.
2. How can I get display intimation of missed calls/messages on idle screen.
Basically in idle mode the sreen is completely blank.
3. The battey lasts for 2 days only. It does not fit into the 300 hrs standby/6 hrs talk time. Anything speacial has to be done to achieve it?

first look, i'm in love with its design,but after i use it for couple months, i start to find some problems on it. the screen is poor when used under the sunlight, cannot be connected with computer(as far as i try), and the speaker phone is too poor(the sound is unstable). but i think is suitable with it's price.

Tips Tips Tips... free Tips*** To prolong Battery life... Reduce the screen brightness as low as possible...i have my own wid only one level up...battery lasts for 4 days...while listening fm 2-3 hours daily n half hour talk average... to reduce brightness go to Setting > Display > Brightness...
To peoples whose Gprs or MMS or Picture messges are not working... there is nothing wrong wid the cell phone..actually u have to activate MMS and GPRS services from your Network provider...

guys...i have 2 words for it man... GREAT PHONE... no no not 2 words but lots of words... Great fm sound quality n reception strength... u will feel the quality in ur ears... just listen to it... other functions are also Good but i faced a little problem that the other person on the line could'nt get the clear voice... a little bit voice break at the other end.. it means... a little bit weak mic sensor...otherwise great phone... SE has eliminated this in their firmware update... go for latest J230i wid updated Firmware.. Great phone for cheap price....go for it...

I just boughy this phone 2,3 days ago, The handsfree supplied (HPM-60) with it is massive & K750i is supplied with the same handsfree as well, i mean the sound quality & overall ratings, Its simply kool, The signal quality of the radio is great as well, most of the day i use to listen to it, recently i sold my K300i Because of not having radio & bought this set, Its GREAT & I love it ... My opinion is to GO 4 IT, Its great.
