Evolved 3G bar

Jan Horalík, 01 October 2007.

Sony Ericsson K530 is a decent looking mid-range handset. It will mostly be favored by those of conservative taste. The new addition to the K series offers 3G support video calling and good entertainment features.

Key features

  • Conservative design
  • Good keyboard
  • 3G
  • Memory Stick Micro card slot
  • 2 MP camera
  • Blogging enabled
  • Bluetooth with A2DP
  • Music player and FM radio with RDS
  • NetFront browser
  • Weather forecast Java application

Main disadvantages

  • Little innovation compared to K610
  • QVGA resolution would've suited the display better
  • Only 16 MB internal memory
  • No memory card in the retail package
  • The phone won't turn on without the SIM inserted
  • No EDGE
  • Rather basic camera settings, no LED
  • Video in QCIF only
  • No LED indication of missed calls
  • Uncomfortable SIM card holder

The K530 was among the models Sony Ericsson presented in June. A mid-tier handset of decent equipment, it will appeal to conservative users with its classic neat exterior.
