Hi all,
I have a K850i Velvet Blue from 8 months, and never had problems with it.
A, about 3 weeks ago, I was taking pictures with camera and the battery discharged fully and the lens cover remained open. Then when I puttet in on chargind, the lens was still open, I give it a restart and then de lens has closed. I don't think that was such a big problem... anyway.
I have the latest firmware (R1FA035) and all works fine, the phone is faster than old firmware versions, with this version, the phone is very stable and a lot off bugs has been repaired.
I use "Allok Video Converter" for converting video files to mp4, it has even the function of putting a subtitle over de image.
I bought a HPM-70 headset for better music and I can tell that K850i is much better than W910i in music playback quality.
I've replaced the 512MB M2 memory card with a micro SD card with 2GB memory, it works very good.
Pictures taken with the camera is very good if you know to setup it. If you take pics with all settings set to "auto", then the pictures are not so good.
I recommend this settings:
1. outdoor, day (sun): Normal, Document, 5MP, auto, off, off, auto, normal, daylight, off, stabilizer off, expure bias -0.7
2. outdoor, day (cloudy): Normal, Twilight portrait, 5MP, auto, off, off, auto, normal, cloudy, off, stabilizer off, expure bias 0 or -0.3
3. outdoor, night - for family portraits: Normal, Twilight portrait, 5MP, auto, red-eye reduct, off, auto, normal, cloudy, off, stabilizer off, expure bias 0
4. outdoor, night - for portrait: Normal, Twilight landscape, 5MP, auto, off, off, auto, normal, cloudy, off, stabilizer off, expure bias 0 or -0.3.

And remember... the phone is very good, two of my friend have one and they all never had problems with it. Update to the latest f/w version using SEUS to eliminate some of bugs and take care or it.

All these complaints about certain functions not working on the k850i. I'm on my second one and any problem I've ever had was remedied with a quick firmware upgrade. To all you whiners: grow a pair, put that usb cable to good use, and upgrade your firmware, or stop complaining.

I also got mine back, but it still freezes now and again if I move to fast. What I have learnt is that most k850i have the same problem, the touch screen frezzes. I hope SE is taking note so they can improve on their glitch.

@tsepz- voda fone replacing the touch keypads? lolz.. you know how to invent things.. i hope that's possible. they've even replaced the "LCD"? i wonder what kind of "k850" you have. you had a lot of so-called "problems" with your non-existent "k850i". poor you.. you should have changed brand by now. go on and join Jon2 and buy yourself a "nokia". lolz..

you cud upgrade k850 software very easily , so dont worry abt any thing , even if it's crashers u cud reinstall it

just want to know and why?...i got the problem with my k850i..when i press the keypad on left side arrow...it directly shutdown and automatically on again?...please reply me....

SE K850i is really a great phone.No problems at all.But i hv some friends who have K850i ,
but all of them sold it at 20% price due to many problems.Consider yourself lucky if this phone works nicely just like mine.
But overall its a superb phone.

user of K850i, 02 Oct 2008its a... very bad fone... my fone goin second third time fo... morewhatever. it's easy to make stories out of this phone.i could make one for n82 but id rather not waste my time looking at that cheap plastic. ive known a lot of k850 users here in the Philippines and none of them,not even one, had these problems you've stated. i don't know what's happening with your k850 but my phone is working really really fine. kudos to Sony Ericsson. im gonna wait for c905! :)

My phone stopped reading my m2 one day, it just did it, so sony gave me a new one. Another day, the touchscreen just stop working, so sony gave me another new one. I sold it and bought a nokia n95 8gb, they lost me
