        the flash cant be used as a torch itself, however the video recorder light can, it can be set to on, off, on for one minute or to flash SOS!!

          R,

          Seems you are really having trouble that you are starting to annoy me.

          Here, start from the very beginning to the end:

            I am not careful with any of my phones, but the only 3 phones that have ever last me were some huge nokia brick, 5110 i think it was, sony s500i is doing alright, and k850 is still going strong

                As promised, here are the differences in the new firmware (at least the ones i noticed so far).

                Note that i had R1EA031 and updated to R1EA038 so this is by no means a major update.

                -The first thing that i noticed is that the software seems more compatible with the accelerometer. Media Player rotate is much faster and flash backgrounds that works with the motion sensor seem much faster and more accurate/precise.

                -The internet globe appears on top of J2Me porgrams that use the internet (Opera mini, Yahoo GO, games) when they are using the internet. It appears on the top right corner.

                -Theme reset seems gone. When you have a theme on the memory card using R1DA038 or R1EA031, it would eventually freeze the phone and the original theme would come on. Ive been using it for a day now and still nothing. This also used to happen when you have a game or a wallpaper on the memory card. I do suggest that themes be put on the phone memory anyway as the phone memory is much faster than the memory card so you will not have any slow downs or freezes whatsoever.

                -Media player has NOT been speeded up yet, especially when you are using a stereo bluetooth headset. And picture and video rotate are still at the same speed (the speed is ok actually).

                THINGS I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN MAJOR UPDATES IN THE NEAR FUTURE:

                -Ability to use phone memory to increase RAM (cummon SE this phone still uses 1MB RAM like all other JAVA based phones)

                -Icon and menu changes like the C902 (this is very possible because ethey are both A200 but if this will ever happen i dont think they will do it till the C902 is out)

                -Face detection: A blessing in all cameras, this is also possible for the same reason as above and that any phone with a cam can have face detection as it is a software thing not a hardware thing

                -Although i love the flash in this phone i would like SE not to darken everything in the background so that only the subject appears in the picture, also i would like to see an option where you can force the flash on to use it as a fill light when the light is coming from behind the subject an the subject is dark.

                -I would like the ability to chose between the xenon flash and the LED flash on still photos, the LED would help if you are using BESTPIC.

                Yes this is asking alot but all the above are possible, lets hope to see them in the future on this already great phone.

                  @ Dani

                  Thats what i meant, K850i is among the list of SOLID SE phones! Its and excellent build! Ive owned it for 3 months and still no creaking whatsoever (a main disadvantage in all previous K series phones). I mean the battery/memory card/sim card holder is not 100% stable (i never expected it to be) it moves around a bit but makes NO creaking noises!

                  The touch buttons are still amazing and very accurate!

                  Everything working great! i mean the only thing is that the send/end and shortcut/c keys start to lose the paint on the sides abit but thats only after 3 months and still barely noticable. In my cae i dont care since i have the blue one now and plan on changing the cover to the quicksilver black one sooner or later.

                  I hope you make the right choice in buying your phone Dani! I think Mrigank Pawar would agree!

                      I own a K850i now. Here's what I think:

                      PROS:
                      * Very good still/video camera
                      * Very good features
                      * Comes with a 512MB memory card
                      * Nice media manager software
                      * Nice large screen
                      * good speed internet connection
                      * 3 finger-touch keys
                      * Can use it for Skype voice chat

                      CONS
                      * chunky (But the good 5 Megapixel camera inside it is worth the extra thickness.)
                      * Slow user interface interface (a disappointment)
                      * Skype client cannot send IMs!! unlike other skype-phones!
                      * The software updater fails to update (perhaps a network problem?)
                      * Bit of a hassle using two types of keys (touch screen and classic push-button)

                      I think the overall score of 70/100 is a realistic one.

                        Sniper supra,

                        I never saw ny company just pop up & say "Hey, update now" if there's an update available for their product! if there's an officially update existing & u r checking through ph or update service program it'll say "an update is availavle. want to download now?" isn't it...??

                        u also said "Not all updates are uploaded at the same time. it depends on
                        a) the phone version you have
                        b) your phone/network provider
                        c) the region you are in"
                        to ans those...
                        a) told u that I've the firmware version R1CA037 & using K850i model.
                        b) am using the top network provider in our country. if the nokias can then SE is nothing.
                        c) & am in asia region.

                        i've the latest SE suite with the Update Service Menu & also have the update service program installed in my pc & download it from www.sonyericsson.com
                        but even when i went to update the ph through it, it said "u've the latest firware version in ur phone."

                        lastly, ya i know how to check the firmware version but how do i check the camera version which u've checked urs??

                          R,

                          Not all updates are uploaded at the same time. it depends on
                          a) the phone version you have
                          b) your phone/network provider
                          c) the region you are in

                          SE doesn't just pop up and say "Hey, update now". There's just too many people in the world that all they could do is hand over a software and the rest is up to you.

                          Even if you do have the SE suite with the Update Service Menu, you still have to install the update service program. You can find it at www.sonyericsson.com

                          to look for your Firmware version and others, press the following;

                                        Dani,

                                        I have owned 4 Sony Ericssons: K750i, W900i, K810i and now K850i and NONE of them ever broke!.

                                        I owned N73 and it didnt last! i take extra good care of my phones by the way!.

                                        Pawar:

                                        Its wierd how you still cannot update bro! do you have a branded version? i live in Lebanon and am currently updating to R1EA037!! thats from R1EA031 (ill post if i see any difference).
