Sound quality over the phones speakers is obviously going to be rubbish. Even the stereo speakers on other models (ie the N95) are terrible.

Playing music with some headphones shows that the K850 is better than most (haven't used a N95 yet), even better than my W950i. Not a pretty music player but a good one.

java platforms are so limited. you cant install any applications. how dull!

look dani, everyone also knows the k850 camera is rubbish in comparison. The photos are supposedly washed out. gsmarena have said it twice, and dont give me a loada crap about nokia bunging them to say it or how they're biased.

i cant comment on sound quality, but a classmate has a k850 and when he decides to play music out loud, it doesnt seem anythign special.

the picture clarity is better on the n series,

but i dnt know about sound. my n95 speakers are slowly getting worse after a year of owning it. I dont think the k850 gives you stereo sound though.

using headphones however the n series are absolutely superb. plus u get that obvious 3.5mm jack! which the MUSIC (LOL) phones from sony erricson dont give you

how does this phone kick n95 "a$$" then?

i mean just get over the fact the n95 does NOT HANG. i cant remember the last time mine did. i have a 2gb memory card and it was just as fast as before.

i mean the sony erricson k850 is just like every other phone. the camera is below average, it doesnt have wifi or anything. seriously, if you're actually interested in this phone, just keep the one you have already got!

all you lot seem to do is just tell everyone fictious lies about the n95. just because previous n series phones apparently "hang", it does not mean the n95 does.

with a dual core proccessor (332mhz+220mhz), it doesnt hang!

also the battery lasts longer than a day with a pinch.

stop palying on stereotypes mirgenk or whatever it is.

I don't have this phone yet but I am about 99% set on it even though I have also been tempted by the n95 (surprised there are others out there just as conflicted). I have had my SE w810i for over 2 years now and it has survived so many drops and even sitting out in the rain overnight (had to let it dry for a couple days) so I feel I should be a loyal SE fan. I like the wifi & gps capability of the n95, but if there's a way to do it with the k850, I'm all about it.

Previous post- so why did you buy it????

This phone is typical Sony Ericsson in that it is still user friendly, simple design, amazing battery life, and nice screen. Even though the camera is 5MP i'm not impressed with the quality, and doesn't compare to a 3MP Digital camera. But then its a phone at the end of the day! Battery can last a week easy enough, and making calls doesn't seem to knock much life out of the battery either! Internet is quick for a phone, screen is very good, and setting pictures as wallpapers is a no fuss affair. Loud speaker is a bit awkward to activate as it doesn't give you the option until the call has connected, and then its activated by pressing the touch screen once, scrolling down once, then selecting once. Can be a bit of a drag when previous SE's had a '1 button' press for loudspeaker option. Oh well, minor niggle. Also sometimes i think the software throws a wobbly- when selecting a screen wallpaper it'll say memory full, please delete to make space, even though i have 130Mb free card memory and 34MB free phone memory! Turning phone off and on sorts it out, but recently i've found that not using the default Vodaphone Live theme has stopped this quirk! So maybe the software for that Theme has a bug that needs fixing. Apart from that i've not had any other problems at all, ive owned it 6months now. To start with i took great care as the screen looked very easy to scratch, but now its past its new toy status it just gets used without worrying, and its still scratch free, so i'd hazard a guess that the materials are very scratch resistant! Camera has many settings but i now just set it to 3MP(5MP takes a long time to save the pic) and press the button. Pictures are a little lacking in detail, and colour too, but ok if you haven't a proper camera. The buttons look awkward, and they are! though you get used to them. I seem to accidently press the touch screen alot when pressing up on the up,down, left, right pad, and also the touch screen 'sometimes' takes a second or two to process the action but on the whole works fine. To sum up im very glad i bought the phone, SE have a wonderful simple menu layout and user friendlyness to them, and it is a functional phone that always has good signal and battery life. Recommended!
