I hope they revamp the firmware or it'll be a waste of such a good 5mp camera.Cmon sony cameras are way better than nokia. All nokia does is manufacture phones and nothing else.Look at sony,an international company producing stuff within a wide range. And btw most critics are suprised by the gsmarena review where the n95 actually beats the k850 all thanks to the firmware.I think SE should unlock the maximum potential in the camera by introducing a better fw.Btw ive used many diff brands which include SE and nokia. My last phone was an n80 but i have to say the cameras on SE are definetely better though my k750 was a bit slow.

i was waiting for the longest time for this camera to come out.. n to have the first review won by N95?! Worry not faithful SE fans.. these are just a test phone, so bear that in mind. plus i single handedly compare my K800i photos with my cousin's N95 and mine won hands down. I mean the clarity clearly beats it. Whereas the N95 looks kinda smudgy n water colored.. perhaps its due to the software in N95 trying to fake the image quality. So there..that's my input. Just wait for the 'real' match to go on later. I will pair this up with my P1i and soon retire the K800i with the K850i. Can't wait ^__^

      New Cybershot phone leaked
      Iphone + 850i camera style!
      Full touch screen design.
Atleast 5mpx camera. Hopefully with Optical zoom and S60 OS.
SE has lost the battle for first 5mpx camera phone to N95. It must release something in order of an Iphone style camera fone intime to stay ahead of the pack.
Expect K850i to drop in prices once N82 and Other brand counter parts ships!
K850i will sold well at about 350 USD!!!

T610: First cellphone with bundled WORKING camera.

K750: Fist cellphone with GOOD 2MP camera.

W800: First cellphone with REAL music playing functions.

K850: First cellphone in combining quality 5MP camera with LED and Xenon flash.

And btw, this phone takes/save photos much faster than n95.

              alotta vageenia:

              1. Are you kidding me? You cant compare 5mp SE with 2mp motorola. never.
              2. Easier to use? of course, moto phones only comes with few picture adjustments
              3. Again.. u cannot compare SE phone camera with Motorola phone camera. never.
              4. Even my old k750 takes MUCH better photos than Razr2V9.

some cellphone owners make me really sad.

this phone is fantastic, I sell mobiles and I know that with sonys sense me which makes the phone turn into a nintendo wii and hsdpa internet, and also in can take an m2 card plus a micro sd. this will be no.1 by christmas. I will upsell this every time.

this phone looks very good, but I think I will hold out for a comparison with the Samsung G800, which is touted to have optical zoom, which would definitely be a killer feature for me on a phone that size. I think Sony is definitely one step ahead of Samsung, if not Nokia, in both terms of photography, smartphone features with the predominance of the P series and their walkman players. However, since I own a D600 already, the G800 is a natural progression. One thing I rele demand from a mobile device is the best internet possible, and because only the N800 (which is too heavy and expensive) and the iPhone are the only 2 devices which provide it well, I was immediately impressed by the iphone's rendering of detailed pages, and it's double tap zoom-in, zoom-out function. However, I also think that the iPhone, whilst being the best music phone and web browswer ever, slighly misses out on the holy trinity of web, music and talking by being a compromised phone. Also, for a device which doesn't have expandable memory, Apple did a slight disservice to the beauty of its 3.5" scren, by limiting the device to 8GB capacity, which really limites its versatility as a video player. No one doubted that the iPhone was nicer to view video on then the old 80Gb iPod, but it just couldn't compare for content. Hence iPod touch seems a perfect solution to me - I get 16gb of storage, for the price of a $200 discounted 8gb iPhone, and aside from the phone element, the only feature which is scrapped in this device is the camera, which at 2mp and absolutely no settings, rele seemed like an after thoguht, even if it's quality was surprising alright considering the lens size. Therefore, I am planning on the G800 for its camera prowess, ease of use, and for just being a great phone, and then the svelte ipod touch 16Gb for music, video and internet. to me this seems like the perfect combination, since both fit in your pocket quite easily

                        Wierd ?!

I was expecting the camera of the K850i to be better than the N95 camera. I just hope that Sony Ericsson will put the finishing touches on the K850i's camera, and then we'll have another review.

HAHA, i'm sorry but I am laughing at the guy who said the Razr's camera is better.

That's like saying a pencil is faster then a car. See the resemblance? That's right: there is none!

                                    http://mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-k850-cam-en.shtml#8

Conclusion on Sony Ericsson K850i’s camera
Frankly speaking, I didn’t love the twist in ergonomics, missing shutter and these switches. But my experience of a few thousands of shots tells me that it is not a big deal. The handset is easy to master, so it looks quite adequate as a replacement for a real (wanted to write “handset” – Mr. Freud?) camera. If you value truly photographic quality of snaps – look no further, this model has no alternatives. In all conscience I have to admit that the Nokia N95 over the past 6 months has become the most popular 5 Mpix equipped device, but the Sony Ericsson K850i is not only on its heels, it also surpasses it in the imaging department (that’s our only focus now).

You can claim, screaming and kicking, that cameras in mobile phone were, are and will be nonsense. But what I really recommend these people to do is take their 10-15 year old photo albums and compare quality of images there with some samples given in this article. The revolution is already here – the Nokia N95, the Sony Ericsson K850i and some models still to come have brought it. A convergent device can ensure image quality that will seem adequate to most consumers.

This year sees an iteration of the Sony Ericsson K800i/Nokia N93 battle that took place last year. In the rivalry between the Nokia N95 and the Sony Ericsson K850i, the latter is ahead with some interesting features and abilities, as well more natural algorithm of image processing. The time has proven that both Nokia’s and Sony Ericsson’s offerings became sought-after and had own followers. But after all, if you are looking for the best imaging department today – it all in the Sony Ericsson K850i.

P.S. We haven’t reviewed slide-show, image editor and other extra features, which are all connected with the imaging department, but deserve a close examination. Therefore these will be our main focus in the next installment of the review

yah right thats y k850 fail to defeat n95. haha. pity u. u dont own a n95 so dont talk u know about it. just by reading the n95 specs n k850 compare the lenght of the page with writings! haha the n95 more writtings than k850 coz they have much to say in thier specs. in that simple step u can determine the king. and y w960 called a WALKMAN phone? with small channels? look at the n95 its loud and clear more channels than w960. peace cupid.=)

I just can't understand why are you SE or Nokia fans so wired? How many of you actually owns a k850?? - 0!, and N95? - maybe few. This one does that, this one does this... ??!!

1st - you can't compare those to phones! why?
Just look at the price. Nokia is far more expencive, and it's a brick (you could kill someone with it :)). But it has more business stuff - 'couse it's a smart phone.

And k850 is cheaper. And it still gives solid performances, and has a lots of stuff, but can't compare to n95.

2nd - k850 is smaller and more stylish
                                        - n95 is a must have business phone (and if you can't use all of n95s capabilities, it's a waist of money)

3rd - os. who compares symbian to SE os?

and at the end - what do you need a mobile phone for? camera? go for k850 - it's cheaper and has excelent camera.
                                        wlan - go for n95
                                        tv/dvd - go for n95
a solide all in one phone with limited "internet" - k850
