I've always thought that the M600 was a brilliant idea but very poor execution. I was about ready to dump this phone in the trash because of all the problems mentioned here but I gave it one last try and upgraded to the latest firmware (as of Nov 2007). Surprisingly, it became stable and speedy. It was really a firmware problem after all. My plans to buy a new phone are now on hold.

The Sony Ericsson M600i is a decent phone. It´s at it´s EOS (End of service) and that means there will be no more updates to the phone. Which isn´t good, because it still has several bugs.

Other then that, it doesn´t have WiFi. Wifi can cut you costs when at home or abroad when checking wapsites, email or doing other things which need an internet connection.

There´s no camera on the phone. This is a big letdown. I would have settled for a mid-level 1.3mpx camera, I really love snapping shots at parties and mms´ing them to people. Can´t do that here.

Also, what´s rather funny is that while it´s a 3G phone, (as mentioned above) there is absolutely NO camera. This means the caller can´t see you, but you can see them. You can choose a display picture to show, but it´s a lot more fun with living images!

However, this is also a good thing. Many of us work in areas where cameras are NOT allowed. This means that those of us who do work in restricted areas can carry their phones with them.

Another beef I have with the phone is that there is no hard "Answer" or "Reject/Hangup" buttons. You constantly have to press the screen, which leaves oily finger marks.

Other then that, and aside from the phone bogging down quite a lot when you have more then two or three programs opening, it´s a great phone.

It´s got a gorgeous touch screen, decent processor speed and a lovely form factor. (Who knew that a brick can look so good? :p )

The case itself is made of light weight metal. This not only makes it look good, but also increases the feeling of quality.

The new style keyboard (which is also on my P1i, which is modeled after this phone) does take some time getting used to.

It´s not all that bad, after about ten or fifteen minutes, it´s like second nature.

I enjoy the QWERTY keyboard layout, which helps me when I have to edit documents on the go. I´m not a big fan of touch screens, so I prefer a phone to either have a QWERTY keyboard, or both a QWERTY keyboard AND touch screen.

I´m usually a Nokia Communicator fanboy, I currently use the E90, but the Sony Ericsson M600i helped me realize that there ARE other phones on the market worth your time and money.

The M600i is one of those phones.

So those of you considering purchasing a second hand M600i, you won´t be dissapointed. But if you can afford it, go with the P1i, which is a heavly updated version of the M600i.

I bought this phone about 2 months ago. Though This is not the phone i wanted. But overall i like the phone.

              problems i faced
              1. some times slow.If 3/4 application run in back. (go to task manager and close them it will start working faster but then web brouser will take more time to open.)

              2. Slow boot up time when you start the phone from off status. (no way... you have to go with this...)

              3. to write SMS If you go to next line with the enter button more than one sms will be send. you have to write total 160 character without making any paragraph... ha ha. i don't know how i can make this ok.

              4. when connecting with i am facing problem. some times connecting with usb, the pc don't found any mobile phone connected. same thing happned with IR port. and i could not connect the phone with blue tooth (I tried but failed. only thing i could do that is i used the bluetooth for using the internet using the phone as modem. that worked fine.)

              5. It's tough setup internet account to this phone. I had to do it with my pc. once i delete the account and it took huge time to reconfigure it again.

These are my personal experience and I will update if i give any wrong information.

              thanks all

I just bought this phone 2 weeks ago and I was quite satisfied until it started to lag. My phone's now having a problem accessing the contact list when I try to write a new text message. It's really lagging behind as if the contact list is continuously loading. Anyone had the same or similar problem like mine? Anyone knows the solution to this problem?

                      hi guys!!
i like to give u all a solution for a problem u might have with this mobile (m600i)

                      the problem:
the touchscreen at bad whether behaves unexpectedly.

                      the solution: 2-stages viz 1)warming-up 2)cooling down.
try dry-warming up the screen first (note the words dry and warm that means no water and no moisture).
i got a lpg stove. i warmed my phone screen by flaming up the stove keepin the stove in very low flame. covered a portion of the screen with my finger (to ensure that the screen is not getting over heated).

if u find a problem like a button in the screen is always activated then press the screen in exactly the other extreme side for example if ur bottom right button on the screen is activated spontaneously then press the top left portion of the screen with finger and warm it up. do this until the your finger pressing the screen is not burnt (be careful if ur finger is hurt the screen might also-fool-proof)

after warming up wrap the mobile in a light plastic cover and keep it in the freezer for 3 to 4 minutes.

doing this moulds the profile of the flat screen ensuring an even surface for equal press response.

u can repeat the procedure if the problem is not solved. i got my problem solved in my first trial.

This is a very good phone, only problem is that it doesnt have a camera but the sony ericsson P1 compensates for that loss. All that asside its a phone that deserves an award of some sort......
