TABKAP, 09 Dec 2008Hello, thank u 4 helping me choosing this phone is really g... moreyou can keep the light on by clicking on the battery on the top then settings then click Handheld and set to ON, this way the backlight will always be on but will dim down just a bit (i think you also have to uncheck the power saver). you can also get a free application called smart backlight from ipmart, that app allows you to automatically keep the light on on the programs you want. Like if you set it to stay on for walkman and notes (like me) the light will remain on only if walkman or notes are on and when you exit (even if they are still running in the background) the light will turn off).
About zooming, when you open a pic in fullscreen mode, click on the box in the top right corner and check the zoom box, then you can use the jog dial to zoom in and out and once zoomed in you can use your finger to sweep around the pic or click anywhere in the small pic to quickly head to that spot. This is the downside of the P1, the w960 has a better method and that is the volume button which automatically zooms in when a pic is open. But the qwerty keyboard of the P1 puts it waayyy ahead in usability!
Hope this helped!

TABKAP, 06 Dec 2008Tank u 4 the repli Rici, im buying this phone tomorrow, i j... moreHey, before i answer you questions i mus say that I've owned the P1 for 7 months and it is the best phone i have ever owned, my favorite feature has to be the keyboard! Its simply amazing!
Ok, i have a 4gb m2 in mine and i have had it in there since i bought it and had no trouble whatsoever. I have an 8gb card but i have never tried it in my P1 since i use it for my PSP. But im sure it will work flawlessly since the W960 has 8gb built in and it has the same hardware as the P1.
About the zooming well you can but there is a long way about it since the major flaw of the P1 is the lack of hardware volume/zoom buttons.
The mp3 player is ok, the quality is great (megabass too) and the interface is like walkman 2.0 but there is a mod that can run the same walkman 3.0 player as W960 and it runs great! Also the volume is a bit low but there is also a mod to raise the volume.
The video recording is at 320x240 pixels and abt 384 kbps quality and 15 frames per second. There is also a mod that boosts the video recording to 512 kbps and 30 frames per second. It also improves the image quality as well.
There are also numerous mods including adding the g900 torch and notes applications.
For all those mods go to www.ipmart-forum.com and create a user and just search the uiq section. There are all sort of tutorials too. The things you can do with a P1 are quite limitless!
Like i said, this is the best phone i have ever owned and it will remain so till when i buy an XPERIA X1. I am still reluctant on selling the P1 and will most probably keep it as a backup and who knows? I might miss it one day and pick it up for a while!
Enjoy your P1, I sure as hell did!

apis.., 08 Dec 2008hi...
i just want 2 know that P1i has provides faster sear... moreAlso, UPnP is an older 3G technology that supports around 384kbps data speeds. The newer technology is HSDPA which supports upto 7.2mbps
Basically not a problem if you are browsing internet on the phone. But if you are thinking of using the phone as a modem for ur PC, ur in trouble!

i just want 2 know that P1i has provides faster sear... moreWi-Fi 802.11b standard connections are slower than the Wi-Fi 802.11g standard that is faster Wi-Fi
Some phones support both these standards (thus Wi-Fi 802.11b/g)
Essentially Wi-Fi 802.11b should be enough for a mobile phone. But some say pages load slower. Some say its ok/fast. I haven't had a chance to test Wi-fi on my phone so i can't comment on it

Ok. Now i'm noticing bugs with this phone that is kinda annoying. Anybody else experiencing these?
1. In the video player, the play/pause button and seeker doesn't appear in landscape mode!! I have to keep changing to portrait to seek or pause
BUT
Once the video is completely played and over, this menu appears in landscape mode. But vanishes when i hit play again
2. Multitasking is possible, but certain programs don't work together, like Radio + Games, Music player + Games ..... Grrr!!
3. When i access a menu, the phone keeps showing the previous menu i accessed, for a split second
4. If i want to highlight an icon, say to access the 'more' menu (and not really select it) its really hard.
(Unless I use the Jog dial, which is inconvenient for long lists)
5. Anybody noticed the double radio icons on the top bar when radio plays (lol)
6. Overall the phone is not optimized for finger touch. The rate of mistaken button press is really high (even with the stylus)
Oh and some of these bugs have a good side too (sometimes!!). Like i found a bug that can keep the camera LED permanently on (Like a torchlight)
- On the camera
- Make sure 'Light' and 'Auto-review' is set 'ON' in settings
- Take a picture (Anything)
- Select 'More' and 'Zoom'
- Zoom into the picture a little bit
- Now, Press the camera button (on the side) again
- Voila! We have a flashlight!! :)

This phone is excellent and extraordinary, it even can mod to Walkman 3 touch like w960 plus it support up to 8gb and mayb 16gb. Could install third party application and work excellent, won't having frequent lagging issue with latest firmware. Beside, it could support handwriting recognition, it help a lot especially in writing Mandarin. Finally, reasonable price tag with excellent features! ;)

I bought mine in Hong Kong 2 weeks ago. Product discontinued but is ok. The FM radio is perfect, For the music player it's the same as for my old M600i. I was using a M600i and the P1i is the natural next fone i had to buy..... All menus and applications are almost same. just few upgrades related to camera, wlan.....
