Hi all,
U see I am having a problem with my sony ericsson V802 SE, i am not using a Vodafone sim since I am in Mauritius where there is only two operators, EMTEL and Cellplus. U see I just wanna upgrade my sofware. How can we know which software our mobile is using? Can we upgrade it outside Sony Ecrisson web site since there is no update for V802 SE only for V800. My camera is too slow thats y i want to upgrade. and more there is no email software so i can not set my email.

Just got myne 2 days ago it's a bit big compare 2 Z500 but just as good and so easy 2 use, mp3 Drm thing is bit of a mission,just a good solid hand set.

Well, I finally got the phone, and it's awesome. I just love the way the lights are set up for the camera, and the user interface is good compared to the one on the Motorola RAZR v3. Only thing that bugs me is where the memory stick slot is. You'll have to open up the back in order for you to be able to stick the memory stick in. It's not a big deal though.

I see, thanks for the info. Also, kind of memory stick does it take, is it memory stick duo or memory stick pro duo?

Anyway,I need some help.This phone can play Mp4 and 3gp video files.I have the Xilisoft video converter in order to convert videos from other forma to Mp4 or 3gp.3gp videos are low quality videos with pixalization ,so I prefer to convert my videos to Mp4.The quality is very good BUT the problem is that the picture is a bit slow while the sound runs regulary.So you understand...When I play this converted video files in other devices(iPaq or desktop PC there is no problem).In general V800 has no problem when plays original Mp4 files,only with those converted files.Do you know any other program to convert my video files in order to avoid this problem???

I said that I'm using this phone with a vodafone sim card and I have no problems.I have the latest software(RS15) and there is almost NO BUGS!!But in a conversation I had with SE customer service they told me that this phone is degigned to work in vodafone's network and that I might hane problems with an other sim card.They didn't say what kind of problems.If somebody want to use this phone with another sim card(not a vodafone one)he'd better buy SE Z800.The same phone but is not vodafone live.

I am thinking about buying this 2day will sum1 advise me weather to buy this or the nokia 6680 (50 euro dearer) and the main adv's and disadv's of each. thnx ro

possibly the worst phone i've ever had! Shame, because it has some great features (except having to download DRM just to be able to listen to MP3's as a ringtone, how pointless....) great battery life, very user friendly but had the phone replaced 3 times because it kept loosing network reception, in the end i got it replaced with a Samsung Z500.. highly recommended!!!

Somebody mentioned something about having no problems with a vodafone sim card, I'm just wondering what kind of problems I would have if I used a Cingular or T-Mobile sim card or any other for that matter?

Anyone knows just how to maintain it lighted up when the clam remains open? I mean, "continuously" albeit with a savescreen added or not. I have a solution that no carkit can compare with (pricewise esp.) and everyone can have it too... it's hanging up in front and cost almost next to NOTHING...absolutely perfect with Bluetooth usage!

i wana ask about the video recorder.what file format of V800 record?if 3gp file format,i'm very disapointed about this hand-phone.coz 3gp file format is not very clear

The DRM package is temporary not availiable in SE site.(for 2 months now)Any other suggestions??

I've mentioned this before but you can assign mp3's as ringtones if you use a program call DRM packager to add a DRM to the mp3. It use to be a free download on the sony ericsson devolper website.

Hello, I'm having some trouble making video calls with this phone... First of all, whenever I make video calls, either the phone says 'currently there is no serice/network available', or the phone automatically cuts me off when dialing . I've made sure that I've indeed subscribed for 3G service with my local service provider, and have also changed my SIM card since they said that my old SIM card didn't support 3G. I have also made sure that the GSM/3G network feature is switched on on my phone....
Anyway, I really hope somebody could help me out since there's no point in having a phone that doesn't allow me to make 3G calls.

Frankly, it IS annoying that the V800 does not allow me to assign MP3 music to my contacts as a personal ringtone.
"Protected" files only!
That sux..
Anyway, does anyone know how to do something about this?

that is not true!!!i have store a lot of mp3 files in my v800 that are 320kbps without any problem.there is no problem with mp3 files.you can't use thoose file as ringtones(the same is in all vodafone phones)but this is not problem.in general you should know that as the people from the se customer service told me,many problems may appear if the phone is not being used with a vodafone sim card.but if you are using a vodafone sim card you will have no problem(as i do!!)
