Hi, i have just bought a sony ericsson w200i. i download some songs onto it. For a few minutes i can listen to the songs through walkman and file manager but after a while on walkman it starts to scroll through the songs by itself then says 'playback failed' and doesn't let me play them. if i try to play them on 'my files' i get 'cannot play this sound'. i have reformatted the memory stick by going on 'my files' and the pressing 'more' and then 'format M.S.' but the same thing happens i can play songs for a few minutes then i get the same message 'playback failed' Can anybody help me it is really frustrating me.... i bought this phone particularly for the walkman feature. Thankyou in advance.

        Some One wrote this here.

"i'm a using this set for about a month.
and i want to make clear this to all that this phone can save a huge amount of sms's.
as this set has a built in 27 mb memory,it uses this memory to save sms.
this memory can be also used to save different applications, songs, videos etc.
as this set has external mem. slot, these things can be saved in that memory stick too.
if u left 27 mb phone memory empty, u get all this memory only to save sms & mms..
can u imagine how many sms can be saved in this huge memory...?
i've already saved about 50 up sms till today.
then how some1 can say that this set only saves 9-10 sms...!
the person who said this must be a stupid or enemy of se.
i think i've made it clear to all that this set can save lots of sms.
        thanks to all.

In my previous post, I mentioned try deleting the song. It is a mistake. I actually meant deleting the song from the Walkman playlist and not the phone.

                    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Oh, those "Playback failed" problems? Maybe you did not update your playlist. Try playing the song from File Manager. If it works, then the problem that you are getting is because the tracks in the playlist leads to an invalid location. Try deleting the song or entire playlist, then adding them again.

                      It may work.

                            To Robin:

I am not quite sure about your problem but I do not experience cut out problems with my phone. However, I have a tip for you. Why don't you try formatting your memory card first and see if it solves the problem? Also, check if there are any software updates available for your phone.

Sometimes while playing music, I press the volume button and the music becomes corrupted. I just switch to the previous song and then back to the current one. It solves all the hassle. I don't know if this works for you.

                            Good luck!

I have been having problems playing music – periodically, the phone’s sound just cuts out; it’s like the memory of the phone can’t cope. The only solution seems to be to turn the phone off & on, but that is time consuming & irritating, & doesn’t last.

I bought my phone last summer & soon after bought a 4gb memory card. The “cut out” problem was so occasional that it didn’t bother me, but the frequency of the cut outs increased, such that I complained to the place where I bought it (over the phone through Virgin mobile). I don’t think their overseas call centre really understood the problem, but they sent me a replacement phone. I was then disappointed as the replacement phone also had the cut-outs. Looking at the Sony-Ericsson website, I noticed that the w200i phone only supports 2gb memory cards, so I invested in a 2gb card. However, it still has the cut outs, but not so bad as with the 4gb card.

If the phone can’t even handle 2gb memory cards, it makes the phone pretty inadequate as a music player.

I am going to email Sony Ericsson about the problem, but would be grateful to know if anyone else has the same problem.

Just an additional tip... When using an application (in my case, TrackID), press BACK and hold it. You are given the option of minimizing the application. Then you can go do other things on the phone like text, browse WAP browser, check text, all while not closing an application~!

Too bad that SE didn't write the steps for the hidden menus/features in the manual... I am still looking for the Activity Menu, which the K310 and K320 and K510 all have... (come to mention it, 99% of all SE phones with a FastPort has a Activity menu...)

Hey Guys, I found out something useful recently.

When playing music in the Walkman mode, in the Now Playing section, keys 1,2,3,4 and 6 have their purposes.

                                      Key 1: Previous song
                                      Key 2: Play/Pause
                                      Key 3: Next song
Key 4: Hold it to rewind the song.
Key 6: Hold it to fast foward the song.

Hope that these tips prove useful to all of you. I am using the keypad to control so that my joystick would not suffer any damage.

                                        I just have one question:
Why my phone has limit of 100 messages???
I have 1G memory card, so theoretically I should be able to store lots more! Is there somewhere an option to store text messages to memory stick?
                                        Thanks!
