ABOUT THE FLASHING LIGHT PROBLEM:
Ok, I have this too on the w800i I just got today (on Vodafone, in the UK). I've been doing some testing, and I've found something. The light will only flash if the battery voltage on the phone drops below 3.65V. As soon as that happens, off goes the flashing.
How do I know this? I'm running the latest beta of FMA (search google, first match) which connects to the phone via bluetooth and reads off a shedload of info about the phone which updates in real time.
When you hit the light, you can see the battery voltage drop and the power consumption go up.
Now someone mentioned that if you switch between photo and video mode a couple of times, it makes the light flash almost straight away. I tried this and it does. For some reason, doing that makes the power consumption jump from around 150mA with the camera open an the light on, to nearly 450mA!! This huge drain makes the voltage fall below 3.65V and the light flashes.
Basicly, the light will flash if you are low on battery, OR if you are doing other things that make a high power drain (the walkman in some cases for example). Some people have also noted that restarting the phone doesn't help. This is because when the phone first starts up it's drawing a LOT of power (searching for a network, reading the memory card, reading in contacts, filling the call lists etc) so that's pretty much the WORST time to turn on the light.
The thing with switching between photo and video mode seems to be a bug - the consumption stays way up for around a minute, even when you exit the camera.
So from this I see two things:
- There seems to be a bug in the camera software.
- The warning threshold for the light is set way, WAY too high. 3.6V or even 3.55V would seem to be a much more sensible option.
As for the blinking LED on the dedicated camera button, I'm afraid I have no idea. It seems to blink whenever it feels like it. It MAY be that when you're starting the camera, the voltage very temporarily drops below 3.65V and that is another warning, but FMA only updates its display roughly every 20 seconds so I've never seen it go below 3.65V when starting the camera.
I have emailed sony ericsson UK to ask what their opinion is, I'll just have to wait for a response (yeah right)!

someone had a link to another page with a picture of the w810 in white. it looked really nice. i think the w800 on looks beats the w810 but when i saw it when i opened the box i wouldnt now change it. the white one is nice but its similar to all the other SE phones, its nice to be a bit different from the rest of the kids at school.

it's not so much the handset that is causing the problems it's o2's software i spoke to one of the sony ericcson reps and he said thats the main problem is the software that o2 are putting onto the handset.

If you had read the posts you would have seen that the problem is with the phone itself, not just with ones from 02. I suspect the only way to fix it will be with a new firmware release.
I have the flashing light problem and i got my phone in Australia.

OMG I don't believe this, I had the flashing light problem, so I got a replacement from O2 and it's got the same problem! Do all the O2 Online W810is have this problem? Does anyone else here have one from O2 Online?

Dear friends
I had been using W 810i since 15 days and i found it to be perfect. However suddenly the phone has frozen, hung. It neither starts nor get charged, simply speaking it does nothing now. What can be the problem and are there any remedies.
I will be grateful for your comments.
