This is a really nice competitor for the motorizr z8.
A nice big 2.4 inch screen is very welcoming to this kind of form factor. Other than internal memory and LCD color differentiation, this phone has the Z8 beat by a mile.
It's actually 3 millimeters slimmer then the Rizr Z8, has a bigger screen, and packs in more features like a radio, picture editing, and an advanced audio player (Walkman 3.0).

Sony Ericsson is a company that focuses more on putting phones in the mid-price range so that it's more affordable to the consumer and that they'll actually buy it.
But every so often, SE comes out with a phone that's a good all-rounder, which is always a walkman phone due to the fact that it'll have a good music player too. They'd never do that for the K series because it'll only have a good camera; but they can add a good camera to the W series and it'll also have it's walkman, therefore choosing the best market strategy.
Before it was the W900, now it's the W960. The W810 can't be considered one of SE's once-in-a-while "all-rounders" due to the small screen size & resolution, and the lack of certain features; and also it's sluggish video playback capabilities.
The W910 is just a superior walkman version to the W580 or the S500.
Even Nokia follows this trend; most nokia phones only excel at one area, like sony's K and W series (either good camera or good mp3 player), but their N95 is that premium all-rounder phone that totally blows away almost every other phone on the market to this date.
Back on topic; although I really do wish the W910 would be that "all-rounder" phone... It's so beautifullll
I wish it had a glossy finish like the S500, and at least with Autofocus for the camera. I'm probably gonna end up buying a seperate chassis + keypad once it comes out so I can spray it with a coating of transparent gloss =)

Thats jus it! SE have the ability to make the biggest & best fone possible (jus like any other manufacturer) but they wont, coz it makes better business sense to fiddle and slightly adapt on previous/current features. These companys have fones to be released in 2/3 yrs time but wait until the times right.
Either way, SE have and are the best Fone Manufacurers!! whos with me??

That Sony Ericsson will one day release a Walkman phone with a 3.2MP camera is fairly inevitable. But as their current flagship Cybershot K800i and k810i both have 3.2MP cameras it would be a shot in the foot if they released a Walkman with that kind of camera. Wait until the k850i is released and you may find that pretty soon there will be a 3.2MP Walkman.
Even though this (or any other Walkman) handset doesn't have that leading camera, it is still a good all rounder, as tends to be the case with most Sony Ericsson handsets. They have all the necessary features, and every now and then they release one with the looks and features that get the buyers excited. The Cybershot phones still have decent mp3 player abilities, and the Walkman phones still have OK cameras.
When you're leading the way in two different areas, it would b silly to lose sales by putting it all into one phone.

The reason its only got a 2mp camera because unlike nokia, se don't wanna put all their eggs in one basket. They have the technology to put 10mp cameras in phones and up to 100+ gb they just won't for years because they make more money releasing stuff gradualy. However much we'd like it all right now.

Tee > Look at it this way. The Walkman phones is, WALKMAN PHONES, this means MUSIC PHONES. Then there's the CyberShot phones, which is the best camera-phones in the world. I think that cleared up what you're whining about.
If you don't like S/E, then don't buy one. M'kay pumpkin?

your choice between SE or imate jama or some nokia depends upon what you want. just for music and camera go for SE phone. Nokia offers you simplicity and great add-on features with symbian. Jama is good deal for its touch-screen and again a compact pocket-pc with thousands of 3rd party apps

This phoen looks average at best. Dunno what people are going crazy over. And how many walkman phones will sony erricson make? Why has this phone still got a 2MP camera? Why hasn't it got a bloody flash? Its 1 step forward and 2 steps back with sony. Get it together. I want a stunning looking 3.2MP Walkman with a fast OS.
