@rey

i did a little review of it already... check page 3 of the user opinions.. also, after you do a firmware update, the phone will run a lot faster... the people that say their phone is slow are the people that haven't done a proper update..
also, yes this phone does run msn messenger... it depends what provider you're with though.. i have a fido specific msn program, you can find other variations online.. just do a search.

          hey everyone
          i have had this fone for about 1 and a half months now and i would agree that the battery life is not good enough for me. i dont use it to make calls much but i do hear to music, play games while commuting and it aint as i expected from sony ericsson. other models like my k800i has a mcuh better battery life than any nokia i have.

          also, the volume seems to be a bit low both from the loudspeaker and earpiece or ear plugs when i listen to music. but that may be for the fact that i also have a n73 and it is quite loud so i have kind of a benchmark for this.

          the fone was slow earlier when i got it from orange as an upgrade. i did a lot of research and came to conclusion that since orange has branded the fone, they have got their modfied version of the original se software. now point to remember is, no matter how many firmware updates does se releases, but if orange does'nt comes up with their new modified firmware in line with sony's when you connect your phone with sony updater, it wont come up with any update available. it might be weird but i could'nt live with the fact that the fone i've paid for has something that is by the operator's choice not mine and affects the efficiency of the device. needless to say, orange customer services or sales stores did'nt had a clue how to get the software removed. they could only get it unlocked, which was'nt the thing i was looking for.

          having said that, i was able to remove the orange software or what is widely known as, 'debranding'. what it means is, now i have got original se firmware and will be able to update as and when se releases firmware. this one is better than the older firmware, i have noticed the increase in speed, especially when i used to go in my pictures, it used to take ages earlier to display thumbnails, now it is a lot faster. also now i've got a 'today' menu on my desktop which is a neat feature just like nokia's 'active' standby and tells you of any unread emails, events today etc.

            shakes:

            thanks for answering my query, anyway do you still experience slow loading times when opening an application? does it restart or it just freezes? i think SE should improve the RAM of the phone and at least upgrade it's processor to 300 MHz just to run applications more efficient.

              @Ben
              upgrading the firmware does seem to make the phone a bit faster... they're basically ironing out all the kinks as each upgrade comes out.. there's definitely a huge increase in loading times with the new firmware.. you can buy the quickoffice software (word and excel) at http://www.quickoffice.com/ and the pdf viewer at http://www.mbrainsoftware.com/Pdf/Pdf.htm

              @Williams
              the sound quality is very good, better than that of the w810, k800, or any other SE i've tried.. the equalizer is very basic but still helpful. The headphones help the bass out a lot, because of the chamber it creates within your ear. but when using headphones other than the buds that SE provides, bass is quite lacking.

              @Kenny
              like i said above, the best sound comes from the headphones that are provided (from a headphone perspective). however, depending on how good your speakers are, you can get amazing sound.. i've attatched the phone to my car stereo and it sounds great.

                          @Bryan
                          you can get the sony ericcson update service utility here: http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=global&lc=en&ver=4001&template=pg2&zone=pg&tl=updateservice
                          once you get it, run and install... you follow the instructions once you start up the program (very easy to do).. if you have any other problems, feel free to ask me.

                          @ Jinja
                          I've never used the M600, but they use the same OS and same interface, so I'm guessing they'd probably be very similar in operation speed.. however, browsing forums, i've noticed a lot of users saying the w950 performs much better... do some research, don't take my word for it :)

                                  @Tim
                                  i'm glad i could help. with your phonebook, it all depends on how you entered the names.. the phone stores last names first.. what i did to make it easier on me was put in both the first and last names in the first name slot... don't fill in the last name section when entering a contact.. that way all your contacts will be ordered the same way like "Jack Black" and not "Black, Jack"... also, names without last names will be stored as just "Jack".. that way, when searching for names when opening up your phonebook, just click on the key with the first names character, and boom, you're there.
                                  of course, it may take some time to edit your contact list so that it meets this standard, but when you do, another one of your big problems is now gone and you can start enjoying that side of the phone too.

                                    thanks for the tips. Any idea how to make seaching for contacts easier. Sometimes it searches by last name. this is annoying, can u change it...?

                                      @Neil
                                      I'll be completely honest with you here.. this phone has 3 ways to sms, T9 with the keypad, handwriting recognition on screen and tapping a keyboard on screen.. now, everyone knows the fastest way to SMS is via T9 and you can get very frustrated with this phone very fast if you have big fingers. I found when I first bought the phone I was pressing wrong buttons and 2 buttons all the time and I was really regretting buying it.. but after a few weeks of having it and getting used to the lack of key definition, i got used to it and can now text just as fast as any other phone i've ever had (k800, w810, k750).
                                      Now, the ipod video is a really good device and can play a lot more file types than this phone.. but once you have the proper video converting software on your computer so to convert to mpeg4/3gp, the w950 is great! You can pause, fast forward rewind very easily and sound and video quality are very good (plays videos at 30fps). Make sure you do a firmware update for your phone when you get it though, because if you have an old firmware version, it takes a long time to load videos.. once you update it, they load up in a second!
                                      I had a k800 before i bought this phone, and I prefer this one better.. obviously there is the lack of the camera, and I found the reception on the k800 was a little better... but what you get is a slimmer better looking phone, with a much better music player, touchscreen, great organizer and a bigger screen... i would not go back to the k800 any day.
                                      i hope this helps :)
