freakazoid, 31 Mar 2011where is the NEO demo that is "buttery smooth"..?... moreStarting from 0:35 is the Neo's UI demo.
It's "buttery smooth" enough for me. Big improvement compared to pre-production models.

freakazoid, 31 Mar 2011BTW, my Ace has 278 mb RAM (for User), and it lags. Believ... moreI doubt they implement home screen to clog more than 50% of your RAM in any production device.
From what I read, The lack of GPU acceleration is the most common cause of why some of Android phones home screen transitions lag. iOS and Symbian have that.
Because the device fragmentation on Android phones (different kinds of screen resolution, CPU, and GPU), the developers of each manufacturer must implement different things for different Proc/GPU.

freakazoid, 31 Mar 2011where is the NEO demo that is "buttery smooth"..?... morewell sorry dude, havent found any yet :P neo is still a bit too early to look for anyway.
besides, it has the same software ( exatcly the same !) as arc, so i dont see any reason for it not to be smooth. also hardware is kinda same, ram, cpu etc...

Anonymous, 30 Mar 2011Freakazoid, I have to strongly agree with you on a couple o... moreI absolutely and completely agree with you.
I find even 5 homescreens too many or should I put it - I would be satisfied with 3-4...
And another thing: Touch sensitive keys are the WORST thing phone manufacturers ever made. I can't imagine practical use for them and they must be just another fancy-schmancy sh*t they try to push down our throats last 4-5 years...
On many phones I used last years I find them unpractical to use and they also are trouble when you put cell phone in pocket and when you want to do something quickly...

xil, 30 Mar 2011freakazoid ma man, let me clear things up here, for all of ... morewhere is the NEO demo that is "buttery smooth"..?
Thanks, bro, for the comments.. but 380 ram is still kinda on the small side. Its a borderline number, to be honest -- it can lag or not lag. Safe number should be 500 mb USER memory or above.
The tiny SMS input box is still a main sticking point for me, coz I write long SMS, and it helps if I can READ it all before I send it :P SGS2 and the Galaxy Ace (which I own) are excellent for having thought of expanding the SMS input box to include the entire $%% screen!!
Anyways, Neo is one of the best contenders for VALUE FOR MONEY smartphone of 2011..Cheers.

freakazoid, 29 Mar 2011Neo is better than HTC desire S -- cheaper, higher 8mp came... morefreakazoid ma man, let me clear things up here, for all of you.
1) the RAM is 512 MB, only USER AVAILABLE is 308 or sth ( the rest is PERMANENTLY reserved for GPU purposes) and you can increase that by clearing some unnecesarry stuff :P
2)physical buttons > touch buttons, for the same reason as some1 mentioned already. who cares if a thing looks good, but sucks in functionality ?
3) sms.. well i cant tell you much about that, srry
4)what ? small icons :X ? how come i never noticed that..
5) you can install a custom version of SE launcer with 7 homescreens np.. or use adw/LP and so on.. np.
and about all the lag you keep talking. have you seen vids of RETAIL FIRMWARE IN ACTION ? all the lag was cuz of pre-release software, nothing more. now its as smooth as butter.. literally !
check this out peeps:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgVFON2YVhw
the only real concern would be the low brightness of the screen...ill check that at a store tho and then decide
also swedroid has other vids of arc unboxing, u can see the UI smoothness there 2.
