I love my phone is so cool and I have a memorystick that has 2GB which I can download all the mp3 i want & this phone is amazing bec. I've dropped my phone many times but my phone is still working until now and it is true that the metal part of this phone protects your mobile phone.

I agree that this phone is cool and it is not cheap and the camera of this phone is nice... and it has all the feature I want for a mobile phone... the camera is good...

The memorystick of this phone has a capacity of 2GB and the internal memory of this phone is 20MB... this phone has all the quality of a good phone and the camera work's well and the camera of this phone can shot quickly by choosing burst and you can add frames...

This phone is "NOT cheap" and (for your information this phone is very competetive at the markets and malls and your just saying that "this phone is cheap" because you have nothing to do but ruin the image of Sony Ericsson).

Ive been reading through the opinions here and many people seem to be complaining about the quality of the camera and that it its very bad.
You are getting what you pay for. Its a cheap phone. It works well. If you want a phone that takes fantastic photos, buy one thats more expensive or has a higher megapixels. Its only 1.3 so the quality wont be that good. You know this before you buy it, so you should complain about it.

Ringtones issue: It could be that there is a problem with that specific song's MP3 encoding etc. I have over 40 MP3 tracks (and a few WAV) and I can use ALL of them as ringtones
Maximum messages: I am not 100% sure, but I think it can store a total of about 500 messages, 250 in the INBOX and 250 in the OUTBOX. Again, I am not sure about this, it is just an estimate.

..But the selection is grey and wont let me select it. I can set it with a wave but it dosen't play that either.

The camera of this phone is pretty good and you can add frames to your picture (not like the other's comment that I hear). the design of the phone is nice too bec. the metal part of this phone protects your mobile phone not like Nokia phones when dropped they usually get broken. and my phone sony ericsson z550i comes with all the features I want for a mobile phone!

1.) First go to google.com
2.) then type "Sony Ericsson Z550i games" there you can download lot of games plus you even download your software, themes, wallpapers, etc. in that sight.

2.) about the inbox of your messages, you can save enough messages without erasing your messages, first you must buy 2gb memorystick if you want enough storage in your inbox without erasing your old messages.
3.) When taking pictures inlarge first the size of your picture by first going to "more" then click picture size then after that choose 1280x 1024 so that when your picture has been save in your cellphone the picture is bigger.

How can I use mp3 as a ringtune? I bought the data cable, but it won't let me use it as a ringtune. Do I need software or is my phone locked? Please help!!

I have been using this phone for over a year now, and I have to say that it's never let me down, except for the camera. I'll get back to that in a bit.
With the phone comes a Sony M2 64MB memory card, which was a nice surprise.
The phone's ringer is quite loud, enough to alert you for a call every time.
The headset supplied with the phone is very good. If you turn the volume all the way up, it's very loud, enough for you to enjoy music 'properly'.
Overall, the menus, contacts and media files are opened very quickly. It's not like Nokia phones at all, which take ages to open a simple contact list (even the new N-series ones). The phone is very quick and responsive. I've even played trance tracks in the media player that are 2 hours long, but it still plays them fine and forwards/rewinds them properly as well. So there's no problem with the software being slow.
One thing I did notice is that when I set a profile picture for my friends, everytime they called it took about 1-2 seconds to load the picture after I opened the phone. I didn't like that so I removed profile pictures.
Now we come to the camera. The camera in this phone has the most abysmal and useless quality I have ever seen. I am NOT exaggerating. There is a bad camera phone, then there is a VERY bad camera phone, then there is the Z550 camera, which is a bad joke. Unless you are shooting in very bright sunlight or in a very well lit room, the picture will be very, VERY grainy (picture noise), sometimes so much so that it is hard for others to tell what you were shooting.
Fortunately for me, the camera was not my primary concern when buying it, so I was still happy with the other features, but if you are buying the phone ONLY because of it's camera then DON'T!! The camera is not good at all anytime after sunset :)
Thought I'd mention what I did want out of this phone. I wanted to get myself a decent phone which would also double as an mp3 player, and that is what I use this phone for. I am using a 1GB M2 memory card with it for storing music etc, and it suits me just fine.

I'm actually disappointed in this phone for 2 reasons:
1)Ridiculous sms limit at around 180 messages despite the fact that they take so little space. I keep getting this annoying warning telling me that I'm over 95% of my sms limit and I constantly have to delete messages to make way for new. I had 900 sms messages on my old Nokia phone and not once did I have to delete anything.
2)Can't zoom into pictures AFTER you take them - which was handy feature in my old Nokia phone.
That said I admire the phone build and the amazing battery life. Also the interface is quite nice.

thanks to sony because of making such greatest phone, I use this phone for 5 month and feed very nice , because of its strong sound and its results. I give first rank to this cell among all the phones in india. It looks gorgeous and modern from all the angle. my mobile number is 09898169408.
