My another suggestion Dirk is try using another MP3 music as your ringtone and if that doesn't work, Go to a shop and have repair your cellphone...

that's impossible bec. all of my MP3 Music that i have downloaded in my cellphone z550 is working and I've even used it as my ringtone and the best solutiion is that go to a shop and have your z550 repair...

I downloaded MP3 ringtones on my phone, if I want to use it as a ringtone, it will say "cannot set this file as a ringtune". What do I need or what do I have to do to get it working? I like my phone very handy to use.

The specification say that this phone z550 has 25Mb free internal memory well they are wrong this phone z550 has 27Mb free intrenal memory...

My phone z550 never lets me down and my phone z550 fell 12 times but it is still working maybee the cover of this phone that is made out of metal protects the phone from being damaged and I have 2Gb memorystick for my phone z550 and it works just fine...

the answer to your question is that this phone has 27mb free internal memory and mot 25mb and that's why is 25mb befroe when you purchase this phone z550 bec. in your phone their are applications when you delete them the internal memory becomes 27mb...

I've been using Z550i for two years now. Extremely reliable phone. However I got a surprise. I have installed/deleted many - 10ths of J2ME applications on the phone within these 2 years. And recently some of my favourites - including Opera 4.2 mini have begun to malfanction.
I reinstalled it - the same problem. Then I did a hard reset to the phone. Was surprised to find out that the free memory is not 25 but 27 MB! After that installed Opera 4.2 again clean. Works like charm now. I guess somehow the phone application manager got currupted.
The questions is why 27 MB free memory, I clearly remember that upon purchase it was 25 MB? Huh?

I've used this phone for 2 years+... Still working strong! I've thinking of getting a new flip phone but this Z550 just doesn't go wrong in any part, to be replaced! It fell on the floor a few times, one time even on the road during a heavy rain day, still it's running ok... I always think flip phones are vulnerable but this one just proves me wrong...! Well done Sony Ericsson!

hey its a flash news to mobile users who r having sony ericisson z550i .throw ur mobiles in dust bin???????????because this company is fooling everyone tht in this phone the 4.2 is not working.........its all rubish...dnt believe them.....because i have experience with that mobile............
i do show my mobile to my brother whos had worked in ths company.he said tht while preparing ths software they had mistakenly did put this 4.2............
so my request is to pls not to use ths mobile if u have ths mobiles pls retuern to thm

abhi, 23 Mar 2009hi........... after 2 month .. when u will play it'a audi... moreabhi - maybee your phone is broken taht's why it cannot play music and video bec. my phone z550 is still working and I bought this almost 2 years already.
