I tried the sms timer feature and the phone connects to the internet while sending the sms. Also, at the time it's to be sent, the person receives an sms saying that I've sent him a picture mms and he should visit a certain website to access it. Is this a problem with my service provider or does it work this way only?

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011i assure you its a simple fault with your particular set.. ... moreIf it's a one off problem with my handset, then it may be fixed by giving it to the service center. That's if they accept the problem in the first place. I'm sure it will work fine there because they would usually be in a central location.

A cell tower near my house isn't the solution, like i said before, there are so many places i visit where the network is worse than my house. What do we do then?

Seriously, about the SAR reduction, will moving the antenna 1-2 inches lower really make a BIG difference?

Because i know plenty of places outside proper mumbai city where the network isn't than great. And if all new phones are like this then we're gonna be needing more landlines soon.

Again i ask, how are we supposed to not cover the antenna when it's at the bottom. Hold the phone from the top with two fingers?

i havent myself made many calls but the few i've made seem absolutely alright..rather quite crisp and loud.

now i hope they fix a tower next to wherever you live!

        feel sorry :(

For ur clarification - Cedar also has antenna at the bottom & every new device whether it's from nokia , se or samsung , is having antenna at the bottom.
And it's not a rubbish but a complete truth that newer phones will never be able to compete with the older ones in terms of signal strength.
I just read the nokia 2690 booklet & it says that antenna in this phone is located at the bottom & try not to cover the antenna bcoz it will make ur phone work at higher freq. due to signal drop & will consume more battery power.

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011To achieve lower SAR value Great, so my brain is safe but i can't call anyone. :-/ Anyway, i hope the MW600 works fine for playing music with the zylo without any new surprises. Once i get that then this whole network issue should be solved.

One more thing, I don't want to pretend to know more than SE about phone engineering but you'd think they could have just swapped the antenna and battery locations in the zylo?

And i've been to places where the network is even worse than at my home. Wonder what will happen there...

abhi, 04 Jan 2011Hi , u r doing wrong by blaming zylo for not so great signa... moreAbhi, in your list you're saying that even naite has the antenna at the bottom? Now i wish i had just bought the cedar. At least that had the antenna at the top eh?

Funny thing is SE themselves say in their manuals "Do not cover the phone antenna when you're engaged in a call."

WTF would they put the antenna at the bottom, and HTF do they expect me to hold the phone, if they dont want me covering the antenna if it's at the bottom. Reminds me of steve jobs and the iphone4. "You're holding it wrong" LOL

abhi, 04 Jan 2011Hi , u r doing wrong by blaming zylo for not so great signa... moreHey Abhi, i'm sorry but i'm the one suffering with having to use my landline every time i wanna call someone. Not you, or any of the ones saying it's not the zylo's fault.

If they decided to put the antenna at the bottom, that's THEIR engineering decision, it makes no sense to say that because these phones are NEW they will perform WORSE than 5-10 year old phones. That's just absurd.

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011i'm sorry to comment but your review is very disheartening.... moreI'm sure i wouldn't even have had this experience if my home was in a better reception area, but it is and this is what i'm going through. Expecting to make and receive calls as well as my 6 year old phone does is too harsh? Cmon man, you know that makes no sense. So you think i should but a $500 phone just so i can make calls without problems which my t610 which has fallen from the first floor still does perfectly?

Then again, these days people don't consider calling a priority, only everything else.

I love the phone for all the other featurees, i think it's completely worth the money, but just wish SE would have sorted out the reception. Everyone doesn't live under a mobile tower.

on the other hand,i purchased my zylo a day back(its kinda early to comment) but its showing superb signs.
the few hitches encountered are very basic and normal.
                        like:
1.cant lock phone without slider moving
2.the bluetooth shortcut cant be fixed at 'turn on' state
3.cant zoom in 3,2,1 mpix size photo.

but believe me the pros are heavy duty.
                        i'll keep you guys updated.

i request u to try out many new phones from sony ericsson , nokia , samsung , motorola , lg etc.
Every new phone now a days comes with antenna at the bottom part of the phone & that's why none of the phones present today performs as nice as earlier phones .
Older phones as u mentioned like T610 , n70 , n73 & every other phone used to come with antenna in the top part of the phone & that's why those phones had great reception & signal strength.
                          ( nokia 2690 , 7230 , 5310, 5130, 1650, c5, se zylo , naite , c510, elm , samsung metro series , corby series , monte ,lindy , champ , wave etc. )
The list i gave is of the phones which i have seen not performing very good at picking signals & it's all bcoz of companies decision to put antenna in bottom part of the phone.

Anyone know what the read report option in advanced is when sending an sms? I enabled it thinking it will tell me when the person opens the sms like how the delivery report works, but the person said that it went to him as an mms. And in details, it shows me 'Read report: Yes ok'

Also, is it possible to make lists display in smaller size? Each line looks like 1cm tall!

Very few options as compared to previous generations of SE phones. I'm talking about 5 year old models. It's all crapbook and twittering birdbrains these days. The manual is also crap, no detailed information. I've checked both the user guide inside settings as well as zylo phone manual in pc companion

Yes, it is a network problem, the phone works fine outdoors, but i get a weak signal at home, and that's where the problems occur. But the whole issue is that my T610 which has a horrible reception compared to most other phones works fine without breaking or anything, but the zylo actually performs worse than the 610.
