Sony launches first set of PS2 games for PlayStation 4

Himanshu, 05 December, 2015

Last month, it was revealed that Sony is working on PS2 backward compatibility for PlayStation 4, and now, the company has launched the first batch of PS2 games for the PS4 gaming console.

"To celebrate our PS2 heritage, I’m excited to announce that starting tomorrow, you will be able to purchase and play PS2 games on your PS4 via PlayStation Store in the Americas and Europe," said President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida in a blog post yesterday.

As of now, a total of eight games have been confirmed. These include Dark Cloud, Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Rogue Galaxy, and the Mark of Kri (available for $14.99 each), as well as Twisted Metal: Black and War of the Monsters (both carrying $9.99 price tag).

All these games also include Trophy support. "Also, you will be able to experience all of these PS2 games like never before — in up-rendered 1080p with the features you expect from a PS4 game including Remote Play, Live Broadcast, Share Play, Activity Feeds, and Second Screen support for game manuals with PlayStation Vita or PlayStation App," Yoshida said.
