"Stock Android" is bare bone Android, which is Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
There's a lot of people misunderstanding the term.

Sony has some of the most beautiful and sleep devices I've seen, but the fact that they use the ugly Stock Android and haven't developed their own ROM with unique UI and looks disgusts me.
Stock Android is so monochrome, boring and ugly, everything feels oversized and flat. The last good looking Stock Android were 2 Gingerbread and 4 KitKat. After that when they decided to replace everything with gloss and gradients with something flat and monochrome from icons to UI, it became so ugly. I still prefer Android over iOS, but unless it's some custom ROM, preferably from a Chinese developer, because they make really vibrant and fun looking UIs, I can't stand it. Even Samsung for being Korean has an UI with boring colors and aspects, no vivid green or blue or orange, just dull, boring "office colors".

Bigger name like Apple, Samsung, Google, even Chinese brands are start ditching some features that some people deemed essential.

Disrespecting others Android OEMs' opinion, option, and preferences because rebels like you like your favourites brands JUST BECAUSE OVER SOME FEATURES and downplay the others, then surprised every report quarters why finding out why plenty ex-Android users moved to Apple or Apple still dominating despite your favourite being held a hero for being the best, the one that this community also dislike. At least in Apple community, they are pretty much focused on themselves and arguing inside Apple, unlike Android tech communities that had to intervene in other smaller brands for the sake of suppressing smaller brands. Don't be surprised if I choose Apple iPhone over any Android brands outside Sony in the future, because people like you don't know how to be respectful to other choices and preferences. I tried my best to respect your brands as much as possible but your actions always tried to toppled me regardless, like how that even make sense?

Sony know this.Very few of those demanding absurd charge rates even think about the battery wear that their ultra-fast charging causes, never mind the fire hazard potential from rushed charging systems on their Chinese phones. A safe and long-lasting battery is better any day.

Sony... moreWhile I do agree that Sony should improve one thing to another like software support or tweaking their camera processing while keeping it natural, it doesn't mean Sony should give up and remove the remaining old-school tech that become their USP of smartphones to fit into the tech normies just because you said so. For me, I rather Sony cease Xperia production with Mark VI being their last just like LG with V60/Velvet/Wing on defending old techs than have to surrender up the old techs in exchange for "new techs" like a MicroSDXC card slot, front-firing stereo speakers, camera button, pin-less SIM card slot, notch-less or punch-holeless display in Mark VII and future, and if that happened, I rather I moved completely to Apple or Google Pixel, especially Apple because Sony's spirit live on Apple until now due to Jobs's fanboyism to Sony.
Look at the most famous example I already told here many times, Porsche's signature Flat 6 (F6) Engine, either turbocharged or Naturally Aspirated, for the Porsche 911 family, that has been staying and equipped in the Porsche lineup for 62 years straight and still living despite stringier emission regulation. Like, are you aware of how loyal and protective are the Porsche purists? You know if Porsche directly moved the 911 to electric and killed their F6 engine without consideration, would cause outrage and probably diverse 911 former fans to other brands? This is especially how monotone is every product in every sector these days. It's remaining their bread and butter despite not being their best seller since Boxster and Cayenne took that over. Even the Porsche 911 GTS Hybrid 992.2 that was announced without a manual, something Porsche purists love, caused outrage. Sure, manuals 911 sold less than their PDK-automatic counterpart, but Porsche knows, that giving some options is better than nothing. It took until the 992.2 Carrera T launch for purists to get their manual again.
Despite all brands trying to move to EVs or Hybrids Tesla revolutionized in some ways that had to make Porsche Taycan EV to just compete and comply, as long the regulatory and law can make their F6 engine alive despite 2035 ICE ban, Porsche will do that.

When phones cost over 1000 euros first thing they should try to improve is software updates policy because it's horrible compared to competition. Even mid range lineups from competition offers longer software support for example galaxy A56. Nothing new 3A lineup gives same 3 major OS upgrades but they are 2-3x cheaper plus the company is completely new.

porkiemix, 19 Mar 2025Contrary to the above, there is no Dynamic VibrationI mean the teardown of the Xperia 1 VI that shown a coin-shaped vibration instead of the big, rectangular vibration did indicate that Dynamic Vibration System was discontinued by Sony forever, but the main question, which Xperia flagship that axed the DVS that was introduced by the Xperia XZ2 of 7 years ago? Was this or 1 V? It's definitely not the first two Xperia 1 series AFAIK
