Would have been acceptable if price around $800.
And I see used 5 V selling right now for under $300, which speaks of it being unpopular.
Their slow charge is a sin for modern smartphone.

And people bash Sammy very hard for bringing only 60W charging speeds with S26 Ultra while this crap charges at 30W.

Poison, 29 Aug 2025Look at that charging speed. It's 2025. 5x slower than... moreYou plug it in at night like everyone else, or even put it on a wireless charger at night like everyone else. Charging speed literally doesn't matter aside from very rare emergency scenarios, and with the most basic planning those emergency scenarios basically never happen.
There are not so few things wrong with this phone at this price point that you get to make up problems that don't exist.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2025Fast charging ruins batteries, any fool knows this by nowHow long have you been mislead by old statement?
It doesn't ruin battery as long as the phone stays in moderate temperature.
Moreover, a study shows only 5 % difference in degradation when compared with fast / normal charge.
Therefore, it really won't matter as heat management gets better & battery capacity getting bigger.

I wish they would bring back the 4K screen. I have the Xperia 4 and I dislike how they went down to 1080p resolution. They have also not improved the headphone jack, meaning that it outputs very little power and is not suitable for larger frame headphones, despite having impeccable audio quality.
Also, this newest phone is not even launched in the USA, so those of us who are interested in Sony phones over here have to import them and deal with not having any warranty or support.

Anonymous, 29 Aug 2025For that price they should atleast put a Dedicated DAC for ... moreI do agree with Sony needing to put a better DAC in the Xperia. I have a feeling that they're unsure what they're doing right now, so they dropped the resolution to 1080p (I personally don't like that change, but I have the last 4K Xperia so..) and haven't updated the Xperia 5 or the Xperia 10.
They're trying to appeal to the masses in some way. I hope they succeed.
Also, they're not just for the "professional" group, they're also for people who wanted out of the hellscape that is modern phones without microsd and 3.5mm. companies only removed them because of money, money from selling alternatives like wireless and overpriced internal storage.

30w is perfectly fine for most people. Clearly you want more for some reason.
More watts = more heat
More heat risks battery wear.

Blame Sony , 29 Aug 2025Sony are the ones putting in tiny batteries and a low quali... more5,000mAh is the average size of Li-ion batteries in phones. Unless you go to the chinese with their silicon carbon, which is still in the unknown phase.
Also.. Xperias are well built tools. I've dropped mine 2 times, only minor dents. They're definitely not built cheap
