Sony Xperia Ace IV rumored to feature SD 4 Gen 1 chip and 5.5" FHD+ OLED display

Sony has a Japan-exclusive series of phones, called Xperia Ace, which recently welcomed a new member, the Ace III. Now Sumaho Digest is reporting on the next model that will likely launch some time next year and details some of the specs (the info originally comes from Weibo sources).

The Sony Xperia Ace IV will remain relatively tiny with a 5.5” display, however, it will feature and upgraded OLED panel with 1,080 x 2,520px resolution. For comparison, the Mark 3 had an LCD with HD+ resolution. The new generation will switch from the 19:9 aspect ratio to the Sony standard of 21:9.

The phone will also have more number crunching power – it won’t be a speed demon, but the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset promises a 15% faster CPU and 10% faster GPU than the Snapdragon 480 used in the Mark 3. Based on AnTuTu scores, this 6nm chip performs similarly to the Snapdragon 695 (which powers the Xperia 10 IV).

The rumored info claims that the chip will be paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage (up from 4/64GB). If tradition holds, this phone should have a microSD slot too. It should be water resistant and have a 3.5mm headphone jack too like any proper Xperia.

Anyway, the battery seems to be the one thing that won’t change with 4,500mAh capacity and 18W charging. That’s still plenty given how petite this phone is compared to most Androids on the market.

Like we mentioned, the first three Xperia Ace models have been exclusive to Japan. However, recent murmurs in the rumor mill suggest that this could change for the Xperia Ace IV as Sony may be thinking about bringing it to new markets.
