I'd suggest reading the instructions before starting this process, it's impossible to brick your phone so you will be 100% ok.
It took me a lot of effort to find a D2303 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean ROM.

Possibly the worst phone ever. Basic apps like timer stops working and browser suddenly doesn't support formats that worked fine day before.

i have this bad boy since October/November 2014-ish. pretty decent at the time. And back in 2016 and almost bricked the phone. Overall it is a great phone, the only drawback is the very very poor front camera quality. I can't remember posting a photo online that used the front camera, or maybe I never posted at all.

Since I bought this in 2016, it took a lot of damage to rear but still working fine. Very tough for this kind of smartphones.

I've purchased this mobile in the year of 2014, frankly speaking this mobile is the best mobile is the best mobile from Sony that I've used in the past recent year's. The best part of this mobile is when I try to flash a new Android version which is stable, it doesn't matter whether it's Android OS V4.1 or Android OS V7.1 both the OS show the same performance, currently I'm using the 7.1 Nougat version in my mobile, trust me it's fantastic. But the only draw back is it doesn't come with 4G. other than that 'MY M2 IS A BEAST'.

I'm using M2 after some experience with E3. Although released earlier M2 has better hardware than E3 and so I'm happy. However, that advantage of more RAM etc has diminished when I upgraded the OS (it wasn't necessary at all). Sony support says no way to downgrade, I disagree.

Very consistent phone, durable (dropped it few times from my pocket) & the only phone I've ever owned with an impressive battery life. Still in good condition but with all those updates, it's starting to get slow. My new Xperia L1 (an alright phone) doesn't feel as solid as M2. Still misses my M2 sometimes.

I have had this phone since 2015. It still works just fine. There is not a scratch nor a crack on the screen, the Touchscreen works great still. And I have not been using gently to say the least. One time I dropped it in 50 cm of snow. Looked for I for 5 minutes And it worked fine.

Avoid like the plague it does not have a recovery mode. It just vibrates 3 times and does nothing. So if you have a password on it it's goodbye phone because you can't reset it if you forget it. Rest assured I will never buy or recommend Sony phones to anyone including my worst enemies.

I purchased this phone in may 2014, till now I enjoyed my phone company with no issues. The photo clarity is awesome, battery condition is always good. The music was fabulous in sony phones compared to others. Sony is best in camera and music. Now I am upgrading to Xperia A1 as M2 is 3G supported not 4G,less ram i.e., 1GB and low internal memory i.e., 8GB which results less apps maintainance . But I am missing my M2, hope A1 don't disappointed me.

I've used this phone for 3 years now (since 2017). The battery life is still awesome like day 1. Normal, heavy usage (fb, browsing, use as hotspot/tethering) can last me more than a day.. I even once left the phone idle for 4-5 days and the battery still is at 60-70% which is amazing for a 2300mah rated battery. never really bother to update to the latest android version since the space is really limited and I'm guessing it will make the phone lags in some apps. But the downside is, the phone can be erratic and have a mind of its own sometimes (suddenly restarted, freeze, battery level dropped and turned off, the sim card cannot be detected, and whatsapp frequently crashed).. But of course, happened only once or twice every half a year or so.. I guess i would still be using it till it rot if not because of that great battery life. I have another phone which is a lenovo a806 which rated its battery caps as 2300mah too, but only work for 8 hours or less and needs recharge, and yes, the phone is not even a year old yet! so SONY >all! would buy another sony for sure.

I have been using this phone for 3 years. And I am proud of this phone. The battery last longer unless if you use 4G network. It is quite durable and solid build smartphone. Good Stamina mode.Very nice features for mid range smartphone in 2014 ( I still remember Walkman :)).
Of course, this phone is pretty outdated and offers only 1GB Ram. So, you cannot basically open the multiple task at the same time or the phone will lagging. The final updated Android for this phone was Android 5.1.1., whereas many smartphone nowadays offer you the latest Android update.
The worst thing about this smartphone is front camera. Definitely not recommended for selfie lover. Sometimes, I cannot use this phone on outdoor due to the sunlight. The pixel is not that high, basically you will having some problem when messaging on outdoor. Charging the battery when using the phone can get overheating. The internal memory is very low, very dependable high storage on SD Card.
You can use this smartphone for daily use, but I strongly recommend to pick other smartphones. Sony M2 software was already heavily outclassed by the competitors. Even Moto G4 provide a better stats with affordable price. 3GB Ram smartphone is become common nowadays. 1GB Ram smartphones no longer become relevant. But, I will continue to use Sony M2 because the battery life is awesome.
