Sony was again slapped by Samsung by their new nice looking and innovative S6 Edge. Where is Sony by the way? Struggling to come up with new Z4 architecture or simply kept silent as they are exhausted. But how come they are exhausted if they use again and again using their traditional thick (HUGE BEZEL) and boxy phone technology. Sony is actually blind and insensitive to numerous blogs against them. Ignoring them and just proceeded on their own ending with nothing but failures…. Look what Samsung and even the HTC is doing. They utilized the bezel for the navigational buttons and fingerprint scanner and rounding both the corners and the edges. These things created an optical illusion to the users or to the prospective buyers that these phones were thinner and minimalistic with respect to the others like Sony’s. The beauty of S6 Edge and HTC M9 creates an impression that these phones are packed with new innovations way apart from the others but maybe actually not…. This implies that the phone architecture must first be looked into opposed to what Sony is doing…. Just come up with reduced phone thickness, upgrade the processor, camera, pixel density and colour reproduction, etc….. bla bla bla…, then pack it with same boxy large bezel glass body then bring to the market. What is this? I do agree that Sony has a brilliant display, nice but little sound quality but these are not enough. Make your phone beautiful…. One more thing, are these Bravia TV technologies can’t be introduced to future Z series phones? Like the MAGNETIC FLUID SPEAKER SYSTEM (to amplify and enhance the minute/less bass/no subwoofer speaker sound of Xperia Z series) and the XTENDED HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE to have deeper blacks (not washed displays maybe because of the white LED filter), blues, greens and reds…. Do in Z4 and I’ll purchase one Z again.

Regarding internal memory, Z4 will become with 32/64 GB option not 16/32 one that still put the Z4 at the top among the smart phones that support SD cards. I really adore Sony for not removing SD card as Samsung did for their flagships since it shows respect to costumers not just making profit by selling internal memories.
With regard to camera, as you already stated, 50 MP are suitable for state of the art cameras that have huge volume of circuit not an integrated smart phone. However, Sony still makes (and have made) the best cameras among all brands (regarding MP and quality) So that many flagships like S6 still are using Sony's camera sensors.
Concerning third party softwares like whatsup, each company like Sony has contracts with specific software developers and Sony phones have enough licensed softwars for a normal user and more exciting for game lovers that want synchronize their phones with thier PS4.
AC3 is an insignificant audio codec that even many third party softwares dont support it. So this even can not be regarded as a small negative point as it is so unimportant. This is also includes m2ts. If you are really keen on watching ultra quality movies on your 5 inches phone, you can install free extension support like m2ts one, provided by Sony and devoted to softwares like MX player.
Sony makes high quality phones but has not tried to tantalize it's costumers. Unfortunately, honesty always leads to loss and for Sony case they suffer the advertising issue too. Nevertheless, Sony is still the third richest electronic company and all of Sony's fans will support them forever.
All in all, if I review Samsung flagships like you have done, I will find enormous number of faults and drawbacks which significantly are more than Z4.

4GB internal memory is fine, 16/32GB option is not much good. Even 32gb was insertable to music players dated 2009 such as Sony NWZ-X1060. 6 years passed, but still stick to 16/32GB, interesting!
Camera is no longer developing. The highest professional SLR camera by Canon is now 50 megapixels, with very good wide and zoom. I wonder, when will a mobile phone will really have an optical zoomable lens, by not increasing the thickness, when not is use.
The display is terrible, compared with OLED displays. They consume lesser energy, compared with TFT. Screen is not good.
One minor program issue is that, Sony can not show WhatsApp option by telephone numbers, like Samsung. Another program problem, you need to use other programs like Skype for Video calling. Samsung has it by default.
The most silly part is the media player. It still doesn't support ac3! At that time, it can not Throw such audio based videos to a TV set. Sony has license to ac3 by Blu-ray but, because of the --- real --- phone board manufacturer does not have this license, the media player dooms! Samsung have this ac3 play ability by factory. For Sony you need to install MX Player Pro and have to choose software based decoding.
A directly send m2ts blue-ray files, can not play, at Sony mobiles! Disgusting, the problem here is that, the inner circuit board again, is not Sony's own, Samsung mobiles can play m2ts files, when directly transferred.
In sum, I think, Sony will not stand against competition, they are nearly going on, no name Chinese way. Sony can not make profit for about 10 years. Sony shops are nearly --- empty ---
In 1985, Sony yearly catalog was three fingers thick, in 1995, they are not as thick as a finger. Today, they have only leaflets, if you can find!
I think, they will bankrupt, if a bigger economical trouble occurs, and it seems that, it is no more than 10 years. I bet, they can not see 2025 like that!

I'm sure sony would love to make a 22MP camera or something like that but they have lost money and also had to cut 1000 jobs. So let's hope the right ideas enter their minds and having said that the Z4 series just might be their life saver. Who knows?..

I even updated it with Legacy Xperia costume CM11 ROM (Android 4.4.4). it's touch sensibility is even better than my Xperia Z2 and I place it as 2nd among all the phones that I have had after the legendary Nokia N95

PS. I'm actually a Sony fan, had a Z2 and loved it, same speed as Z3, but still, S6 is faster
